Q + A

Everything You Need to Know

Where should we stay?

A: We’ve reserved a room block for our guests so you can be close to all the festivities (and each other!). You can book directly through our booking link (https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1754408233559&key=GRP&app=resvlink) to get our special rate. Rooms are limited, so we recommend booking early.

Do I have to stay in the room block?

A: Not at all! You’re welcome to stay anywhere you’d like, but the room block will make it easy for everyone to gather, mingle, and shuttle to and from the wedding events.

Will there be a shuttle to the wedding?

A: Yes — the shuttle will run to and from the hotel for the welcome party and the ceremony/reception so no one has to worry about driving.

What’s fun to do in the area?

Our favorites include: • Dixon Lake – Scenic picnics & fishing • Stone Brewing – For craft beer lovers • Carlsbad State Beach – Just 20 minutes away • Double Peak Park – Stunning hiking views of the coast

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Both will be outdoors (under the stars!) with cozy spots to gather, so we recommend bringing a light wrap or jacket for the evening.

What’s the weather like in San Marcos in October?

Warm afternoons and cooler evenings — usually sunny, with temperatures in the high 70s during the day and mid-60s at night.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We ask that you keep phones and cameras tucked away during the ceremony so you can be present in the moment — our photographer will capture it all!

Are kids invited?

Our wedding will be an adults-only celebration so everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. The only exception is our tiniest guest — a newborn whose mama is in the bridal party.

What’s the dress code?

Formal attire — with room for magic. This celebration takes place outdoors, in a garden at dusk, where the veil is thin and the air hums with something unseen. We invite you to dress accordingly. Gowns, suits, flowing silhouettes, velvet, silk, florals, metallics, iridescent fabrics — all are welcome. Wings? Yes. Glittering eyeshadow? Please. Crown of dried flowers or a gold-dusted collarbone? Absolutely. Let your look feel enchanted, intentional, and worthy of a once-in-a-lifetime celebration in the woods. Note: The ceremony and reception will be outdoors. San Marcos evenings can get chilly in October — bring a wrap, coat, or outer layer that keeps the magic going once the sun goes down.
