It is a story as old as time, how all traditional couples meet and everlasting love blooms – the Bumble app and a couple of right swipes.
The actual match happened while Ted was on a work trip in St. Louis. While killing time between presentations, he happened to check his account and there she was - a tall, brown hair, brown eyed beauty named Lauren. The two immediately hit it off over several messages and exchanged phone numbers.
Soon there after, they planned a trip to Isle Bun and Coffee in Uptown Minneapolis for their first official date. Over a Puppy Dog Tail (a cinnamon twist pastry), a coffee and a mug of hot water (which Ted seized the opportunity to show off when she ordered), the sparks flew. They spent over two hours sitting and talking while ignoring the rest of the world around them.
A few days later, their second date sealed the deal - it was Halloween evening and Lauren invited Ted over to help hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Ted wanted to surprise Lauren with flowers, Lauren planned to surprise Ted with his favorite delicacy, the peanut butter cookie. Upon seeing what they had in store for each other, they shared their first kiss right there in Lauren’s Kitchen.
Over the next several weeks, the two spent more time learning about each other and hanging out. They began to cultivate mutual hobbies and start traditions together, such as spending weekends on the water, attending A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie every year and trying new restaurants around the Twin Cities.
For their one year anniversary, Ted planned a trip to Duluth; Lauren had never been and was excited to see the town. On the drive home from an adventurous weekend, the two agreed to move in together and further intertwine their lives.
Several months later, Lauren planned a dinner date to one of their favorite restaurants, Olio, in Bayport. Ted took this opportunity to plan a romantic evening and ask for her hand in marriage. Needless to say, she said yes and the wedding bells began to chime in their future.
