As you know, Tayler and I met by bumping carts at Hy-Vee… just kidding. Tayler and I actually met on an app called Hinge. As the young folks say, we “matched.” We began talking and getting to know each other. Tayler eventually asked for my number and then asked me out on a date.

Unfortunately for me, Tayler was leaving for the Dominican Republic on a family vacation, and I was working the evening shift in the ER. So we settled on a brunch date at Josiah’s on a Friday between our work schedules. We both showed up in our black scrubs that day. According to Tayler, I talked a lot and wasn’t afraid to eat my entire burrito in front of him (this girl likes to eat). After brunch, we parted ways, and Tayler left for a week.

However, during that time away, Tayler managed to blow up my phone with Mike Stud songs, phone calls (I met Logan and TJ, as well as Alissa and Dom, during that trip over FaceTime), and texts in Spanish to impress me. It must have worked because I clearly kept talking to him. At one point, Tracy had to tell him to “put Tegan away” because he was texting me too much at family dinners.

Fast forward, once he got back from his vacation we continued to go on dates and get to know each other. At our second date, he convinced me to come to Brandon with him to eat with his friends. I then met Tyler, Dylan and Kendra. I was well on my way of meeting the many important people in his life. After about 2 months of dating, I told Tayler that we should get a dog together. He immediately agreed. Our family and friends told us were crazy to get a dog in such a short amount of time of knowing each other, but we just knew :). I convinced him we were going to "just look" and that is when we fell in love. Tayler picked Gigi out and I thought of the name (had to give myself some credit). She has been one of the best parts of our relationship and I think has brought us together even more.

Tayler and I spoke about getting married someday and hoping it would be destination wedding. Tayler was planning on the proposal after his sisters wedding in October. But, what happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas. Turns out that God had other plans on top of an engagement. We found out we were pregnant in November of 2024. Now, I for sure thought that an engagement was completely out of the cards with our new news. However, Tayler continues to surprise me and he proposed on December 24, 2024. It was beautiful, unexpected and perfect. Between the set up, drinks, cake and company I could not have asked for more.
