How We Met

Picture of How We Met

We met at Dominican University at the Homecoming Dance on October 10, 2009. Eddie just transferred from Elmhurst College and I was a Sophmore at Dominican. At the dance, I asked Eddie to dance with me and 10 days later we decided to date on October 20, 2009.

Proposal

Picture of Proposal

I knew ever since I met Teresa that I would have to ask her in an extra special way to marry me. The typical drop down on one knee would never be enough. So it took me probably close to 6 months to perfect my plan.

I did decide early on that it needed to be in Disney World- a place that both of us love. I decided to set the date for April 2, 2015.

Teresa and I arrived in Disney World late in the day on April 1 and went to bed early so that we could get up early and enjoy a full day in the park. The day started out pretty typical for a day in Disney World. We went to Hollywood Studios and went on Rockin' Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Star Tours. We enjoyed a nice lunch together and then I brought her over to Cinderella's carriage that was set up for park guests and we took a photo with the glass slipper. This was just the beginning to set the scene for my proposal. She was ecstatic to see the coach and try on the famous glass slipper.

After this point we started heading back toward the park exit. I had told Teresa that I scheduled a caricature for her birthday, since she always wanted one and I had never gotten one for her. We went to the French pavilion in Epcot, where the caricature was set to take place just in front of the famous Eiffel Tower. It was a hot sunny day and it just stopped raining-which we were very lucky. We were starting to run a little late, but we some how made it perfectly on time. With the sounds of the French music playing in the background, the water splashing in the water fountain, the hustle and bustle of the people brushing past, and the city of love just behind us, the caricature began. She had no clue what was coming. She just assumed it would be a picture of us, not a picture of me on one knee asking her "will you marry me" After the artist finished, she turned the caricature around and I knelt down on one knee and asked Teresa to be my wife. She was surprised, shocked, and it took her a moment to realize that this was really happening. With cheerful delight, she said "Yes".
