It all started on a beautiful October day—October 16, 2021, to be exact. The air was crisp, the wedding was buzzing with laughter and celebration, and Tess, glowing in her bridesmaid dress, had just been introduced to a guy named Griffin. She recognized him instantly. With a sly smile, she turned to someone and said, “If anything was going to happen between me and him, it would’ve already happened by now—I’ve had him on Snapchat for two years.” Little did Griffin know… he had no idea he’d had her on Snapchat that long. As the wedding wrapped up and everyone parted ways, Griffin decided to take a chance and ask Tess out. But she gently turned him down—she was focused on school and didn’t want any distractions. Still, Griffin didn’t completely disappear. He messaged her over the next few months with simple, thoughtful greetings—“Merry Christmas,” “Happy New Year,” and “Happy Birthday.” Nothing too forward, just enough to show he hadn’t forgotten her. Fast forward to April 22, 2022. Tess went to the movies with a group of friends, not expecting anything more than popcorn and laughs. But fate had other plans. As the movie ended and she was heading out, she ran into Susan Strong—and right behind her, out walked Griffin, fresh from the bathroom. The quick encounter caught her off guard in the best way. When she got home that night, she decided to message him on Snapchat: “It was good seeing you tonight.” From there, the conversation picked up naturally, like no time had passed. Just a week later, on April 29, 2022, they went on their first date. Griffin showed up in the Jeep he had at the time and warned her, “The passenger seatbelt doesn’t work. Everyone’s tried to get it to lock, and it just won’t.” Tess, undeterred, reached over and casually buckled it on the first try. Griffin was stunned. They headed to The Rickhouse in Greenville for dinner—where Griffin almost left without his hat, which Tess found hilarious—and then swung by Walmart for some Mother’s Day shopping. To top off the night, they grabbed donuts from Duck Donuts. Back in her driveway, parked under the stars, Tess had made up her mind: if she wanted to know if there was a real spark, she had to kiss him. So right as Griffin was about to eat a chocolate donut, Tess leaned in and kissed him. Caught completely off guard, donut in hand, Griffin was speechless—in the best way. Their next date was on May 13, 2022. That night, Griffin officially asked her to be his girlfriend. And just like that, what started as a wedding-day meeting and a “Snapchat mystery” became something real. Over the next two years, they built a life full of laughter, late-night talks, and shared dreams. And then, on November 8, 2024, Griffin got down on one knee and asked Tess the most important question of all. Of course, she said yes. 💍 And now, they’re writing the next chapter—together.
