Thane met Payne on a plane. God was the author of this story because Thane and Sophia were never supposed to meet. Thane was flying from Nashville after a long weekend with friends. He was supposed to fly into Austin, but God had other plans. Sophia was coming from Charleston after an adventure weekend of exploring the city. Sophia was supposed to fly into San Antonio, but God. In August of 2022, there was a surge of storms that crossed the state of Texas and airports were shutting down. Once arriving at separate airports Thane and Sophia received similar news. Their initial flight was canceled but they should be arriving in Texas at some point in the night. Thane was feeling under the weather but he was determined to get home. Sophia was frustrated but knew if she could get into Texas she could manage to figure out the rest. They were both sent to Chicago-Midway for the connecting flight to San Antonio, which was the only airport in Texas that was open to flights with the storms sweeping through. They both spent a measurable amount of time in the Chicago airport but never spoke to one another. As Thane was feeling under the weather he was hopeful to sleep on the flight to San Antonio as it was a two-hour and thirty-minute flight. After Sophia's search for caffeine came to a dead end she decided she would also take a nap on this red-eye flight that was about to leave the tarmac. As they began to board the Airline of Love (Southwest), they were some of the last people to find their seats. The flight attendant was stern as Sophia was trying to find a seat which led her to pick the first seat she saw. A middle seat next to a young man in a bright red Tommy Hilfiger hat and dashing blue eyes. Once situated in her seat she took a deep breath and took a chance, not knowing that God had already written their story. Sophia asked the young man. "So, is San Anton home for you?". Two and a half hours later, no sleep, the middle of the night, and an endless conversation, love was in the air. Literally.
