Our Wedding

We officially met late December 2020, a few days before the New Year. However, we kinda go way back! In 2018, the two of us were chosen as the National Gatorade Players of the Year for volleyball and baseball, learning of each others’ names on the list of winners Gatorade posted, immediately following each other across the board on all social media. When announced as winners, we were invited to the ESPYs, along with a week of fun in LA. However, when the Padres drafted Ryan, he had to report straight to Arizona and miss the opportunity to meet the other winners. I was devastated to not get to meet him. I truly thought we’d fall in love right there at the Staples Center, sitting beside each other during the ESPYs. But instead, the two of us waited over 3 years for one or the other to reach out. (Meanwhile, Ryan’s sisters, Karly and Ally, were playing match-maker trying to convince him to talk to me. I knew I’d always liked them 😉) Fast forward to December 2020, a former USA Baseball teammate of Ryan’s, my teammate’s boyfriend, convinced Ryan to reach out to me - and the rest is history! We hit it off from the jump, and ended up meeting in Atlanta as each others’ New Years Eve dates. We knew from the day we met each other we’d be spending the rest of our lives together! So far, we’ve spent the year we’ve been together watching lots of baseball and volleyball, and getting our money’s worth of FaceTime when we were across the country from each other. Here’s to the future Weathers!

There is also a big convention, softball tournament, rowing tournament, etc. in the Chattanooga area the same weekend as our wedding, so finding hotel room blocks has been challenging. Ryan and I knew we would have to wait to get married until after baseball season concluded - worth the wait! But we are also family people. We want to make it as easy as possible for our people to be at our wedding. We chose to do a destination-type wedding because it made it easiest for our siblings to be there. Georgetown, TN, is a few hours drive right in the middle for our siblings playing college basketball (Go Tigers, Roll Tide), and with the our date being so close to their season, we wanted it to be where they could both easily be there and then head back to campus for opening day!
