The Town of Pittsford is located in the southeastern portion of Monroe County in upstate New York. Rochester is the closest metropolitan area and is approximately eight miles to the northwest. The town of Mendon lies to the south, the town of Perinton to the east, the towns of Henrietta and Brighton to the west, and the towns of Brighton and Penfield to the north.
Pittsford is an active commerce hub and has a variety of shopping opportunities within the Village, along Schoen Place, in Northfield Commons or down the Monroe Avenue corridor and Pittsford Plaza.
The George Eastman Museum is located in Rochester, New York, on the estate of George Eastman, the pioneer of popular photography and motion picture film. Founded in 1947 as an independent nonprofit institution, it is the world’s oldest photography museum and one of the oldest film archives. The museum holds unparalleled collections—encompassing several million objects—in the fields of photography, cinema, and photographic and cinematographic technology, and photographically illustrated books. The institution is also a longtime leader in film preservation and photographic conservation.

One of the most popular features of the Erie Canal today is the Erie Canal towpath, part of the Empire State Trail. The towpath runs alongside the Erie Canal, with multiple access points throughout Monroe County. The Erie Canal towpath is ideal for a leisurely bike ride or walk with wide, flat, safe and open paths that run along the canal side through parks and villages.
