The Farm is a ~35-minute drive from downtown Portland and 1 hour from the Portland airport. We encourage carpooling and are happy to coordinate shuttles with friends—please fill out our <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/114C-f8gF1AeARmceNSzHo7YSD5P-pviG2vxbowUXtI4/edit?usp=sharing" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">carpool/rideshare spreadsheet</a> if you'd like a ride or can offer one! For folks visiting from afar, there are also great transit options for getting around town, including from the train station, bus station, or the airport. Thomas loves riding transit in Portland and is happy to chat specifics with you.

Sleep sweetly under a blue moon! Nestled along the Willamette River, <a href="https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&amp;parkId=79" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Champoeg State Park</a> is a ~30 minute drive from our wedding venue and ~40 minutes from downtown Portland. Champoeg has tent camping, RV sites with electricity, yurts, cabins, and hiker-biker sites available. It also has hot showers! Thomas will reserve a group tent-camping site or two (25 people, 6 vehicles) for wedding guests Friday and Saturday nights (May 29-30). If you'd like to stay at this site, please let him know in your RSVP! If you're interested in yurts, cabins, or your own site with electricity, we recommend <a href="https://oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/champoeg-state-heritage-area/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=OR&amp;parkId=405213" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">booking soon</a> as sites often fill up (you can cancel if needed). Champoeg is available to book for the wedding weekend starting November 30, 2025.

We don't know much about hotels but we hear that Portland and Beaverton have plenty of good ones. Book yourself a nice place to stay!

The Menu

We're having a potluck! We look forward to sharing food and fellowship, and thank you in advance for your contributions. If you are able, please bring a dish to share, labelled with your name and your dish's details (e.g., vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.). If you're coming from afar and are unable to cook, pizza or takeout is great too. We will love whatever you make or bring, and will send a sign-up list to coordinate closer to the wedding date. We'll take care of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and other goodies.

The Venue

For the Earth Farm (aka the Burchfield farm) is Molly's family home. Surrounded on three sides by the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, the twelve-acre property is full of life. In addition to Molly's family, local residents include a variety of nesting birds, Sprout and Darling the little goats, Wooly the alpaca, and Dragon the cat. We're excited to share this beautiful place with all of you come end of May. Overflow parking (with shuttles) and our rain venue will be the nearby Kinton Grange (check out their charmingly archaic <a href="https://www.kintongrange.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">website</a> ). Closer to May, we'll share more details on parking, activities, and more!

The Games

There will be games! Thomas and Molly are cooking up some relays, scavenger hunts, lawn games, birding, and more for Saturday morning. Bring your competitive streak if you're joining in! (totally optional)

The Evening Before

Join us Friday, 7-9 pm, for a casual welcome hangout at <a href="https://www.sostahouse.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sosta House</a>, 14667 Southwest Winery Lane, Beaverton, OR. We feel so lucky to be generously hosted by our friends and neighbors Mia and Nico at their beautiful bed &amp; breakfast. Come drink wine, snack on charcuterie, and strategize your victory in the wedding games. (also totally optional)

Details

What should I wear?

Friday evening welcome party and Saturday morning outdoor games will both be very casual. For the wedding ceremony and evening, we'll be getting a little fancier, and we welcome you to join us in celebrating our undying love of flowers and all things floral. The wedding is outside with uneven ground, so sturdy, comfy footwear is recommended. If you don't own anything floral, go semi-formal or wear whatever makes you comfortable!

Can I bring a Plus One?

Alas! While we know Portland is a great city to bring your lover, we're limited to the number of guests we can invite due to space constraints and our big families/communities. We don't have space for folks beyond those listed on your wedding invite. We appreciate your understanding!

How about a pet?

The farm is already home to several sweet animals who may not appreciate the extra furry friends, so we ask that you make other arrangements for your pets. Thanks for understanding!

Is the wedding inside or outside?

Weather permitting, the whole wedding celebration will be outside. If it's really rainy, we've reserved the nearby Kinton Grange and will pivot to having the ceremony and reception indoors. Still, we recommend bringing layers and planning to be outside! Typical Portland weather on May 30th is partly sunny, high 70's / low 50's.

Will there be pollen?

Oh yes. Besides the beautiful cross-pollination of friendships, of course, there will be a LOT of grass pollen. If you've got allergies, we recommend bringing your Zyrtec and some tissues. We'll try not to make you cry too much.

How did you meet?

We met ten years ago during our first semester at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. We were friends for a couple years before we started dating. In the years since, we've lived, apart or together, in Cambodia (Molly), Costa Rica (Thomas), Washington, Montana, Utah, and Oregon.
