Hornbaker Gardens, Inc. is a family owned and operated nursery. Their large collections of hostas, daylilies, trees and shrubs, grasses, aquatics, annuals, and other perennials draw plant enthusiasts from not only the Midwest, but from all across the country.
There is a children's garden that consists of a large, sloped, grassy play area where kids can be kids. Children of all ages can be seen climbing and jumping off a big flat boulder or a weather-smoothed White Oak log, going through a tunnel that’s five feet in diameter, or playing with scoops and trucks in the pea gravel area. A short distance from the Children’s Garden is a sandy beach along the shallow stream in the front yard, where kids just naturally wade right in. Imaginations run wild in the willow branch hut and a playhouse known as Kathy’s Kitchen.
This is one of our favorite bakeries in the area. It's about 40 minutes from the venue, but it you might pass by it on your drive and if you do, you should definitely stop!
