Once Upon a Time…
We all know that relationships start with a “special meeting” (despite how corny it is). Even all the movies and books talk about when Harry met Sally, love at first sight or she fell into his arms. But shockingly, it was not Tiffany who fell into Lalo’s arms upon meeting. For it was Lalo that had been made to sit his ass down when he injured himself, by, you guessed it, Tiffany. This is the story of Lalo and Tiffany’s 9 year adventure.
Part 1: Highschool Sweethearts

Their story starts when Lalo and Tiffany were serendipitously placed on the same soccer team for a school tournament one day. Long story short, Lalo twisted his ankle and Tiffany made him sit out the game despite his protests. In order to soothe him she let him lay on her lap while she braided his hair and they got to talking. To make things more romantic (and dramatic), it began to rain and the couple had to find shelter in the gym. After hours of talking, sharing gummy bears and jokes shared between them, the two went their separate ways. For the next few months, Tiffany had tried to work up the courage to talk to Lalo, but every chance she got, she ended up shying away before he could see her. Until one fateful day, Tiffany received a mysterious text from an unknown number with only a gif of a potato dancing and the word “pillow!” The mystery texter turned out to be Lalo (of course)! So the pair spent next summer flirting as high school crushes do. Finally, months later the two mutually decided to start dating, but of course never remembered the actual date this happened. So naturally, they chose Tiffany’s dogs birthday so that they could remember for the future, which was November 4th. Unfortunately, Lalo had already moved to Arizona during the summer, and this was the first challenge they had to face together: long distance.
Part 2: Distance Can't Stop What's Meant To Be

Fast forward a few years, Lalo and Tiffany had gotten into a routine where they would Skype during the school year and visit each other during their breaks. During this time, despite Tiffany’s so called “its better this way” half assed attempts at pushing Lalo away, he persisted. He helped her become the confident woman she is today by standing by her side, especially in the dark. However, Tiffany was not the only one that had grown during this time. Lalo had matured into a responsible and hard working person while he was off at Grand Canyon University. For 3 years the two did long distance either from Arizona to Texas or Dallas to College Station then finally College Station to Austin. In 2018 Lalo had started his career in DNA analysis in Austin, and for the next year they had made plans to move in together once Tiffany graduates. In December 2019, after graduating from Texas A&M the couple finally got their wish to live together in Austin with their two dogs Ruffus and Roxie.
Part 3: Pandemic Pandemonium
At long last Tiffany and Lalo were able to be together in the same city permanently! It seemed everything was finally in their favor. However, as we all know, 2020 was not the luckiest year for anyone… the couple went from rarely seeing each other to seeing each other 24/7, in just a few short months, due to the pandemic. It would be a lie if during lockdown their experience was all butterflies and rainbows. As the only thing that saved their relationship, was their ability to have their own spaces in the apartment, well and of course being able to compromise and communicate. Even though there was two years of the unknown, ice storms, political turmoil and career changes, Tiffany and Lalo persevered. These last few years fine tuned the couples ability to, not only work as a team, but continue to love and support each other through the hard times.
Part 4: The Start of Something New
On July 31st, Lalo had told Tiffany they had a reservation for a wine tasting at the Dutchman vineyard, in Dripping Springs, as a date. However, unknown to her, he had been working with a local jeweler in Austin to customize an engagement ring. As well as collaborated with the vineyard to set up a private picnic to to surprise her when they arrived. Although Tiffany had a feeling that he would possibly propose earlier that week, she waved it off thinking that it was just going to be a “practice run” to prepare for the “real” proposal later. When the couple arrived, Tiffany was surprised when the staff showed them to their secluded picnic stocked with personal wine, cheese and fans (cause Texas is hot as hell). Lalo had set up this entire date so that they could have a “perfect first date for this new chapter in their lives” and proposed to Tiffany. She said yes (duh) and this is the start of their new chapter.
