Our Beginning: From Missed Connections to "Forever"
They say the best things are worth waiting for, even if one of you is waiting right in front of the other without realizing it.
A Quiet Start
Our journey began in a quiet Asian American Studies classroom at UC Irvine during our freshman year, January 2015. We sat in the same Asian American Studies discussion, surrounded by books and lectures, yet we remained strangers. Tiffany was the diligent student, always there on time; Luc was the guy sliding through the door right as the TA started talking, usually missing the chance to notice the girl who would eventually become his whole world.
The Digital "Maybe"
By sophomore year, the universe started dropping hints. Luc found himself scrolling past Tiffany’s smile on Facebook and Tinder, feeling a pull he couldn't quite explain yet. For some reason, he didn’t reach out right away. Maybe it was because fate was saving our first real "hello" for a moment that didn't involve a screen.
The Night Everything Changed
That moment finally came at Luc’s fraternity party on February 3, 2016. Somewhere between the loud music and the crowded room, the noise just kind of faded out and it was just us. We hit it off instantly, but the conversation really sparked when we started talking about where we grew up.
As soon as Tiffany mentioned she was from Oakland and Luc shared he was from Stockton, the distance between us vanished. It wasn't just about geography; it was that instant comfort of meeting someone who understood where you came from. In the middle of a college party, we found a piece of home in each other.
Choosing Each Other
The path wasn't perfectly smooth from the start. A week of "ups and downs" followed, filled with the kind of messy miscommunications that come when friends and feelings collide. But instead of walking away, we chose to lean in.
One week after we met, we sat down for lunch, just the two of us. We talked through the noise, ironed out the misunderstandings, and truly saw each other for the first time. In that simple lunch setting, we traded the "he said, she said" for a promise of "us."
We haven't stopped choosing each other since. From a classroom to the altar, the rest is history.
