Our Wedding

Our story begins in August 2020. After days of talking over the phone, we decided to meet up for lunch at my work. We quickly were starting to get to know each other, with many of our first dates included walking my neighborhood with my dog Max (which included us chasing Max back into the house), him coming to eat with me in the car on my lunch break, and even our first day trip together to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. Our days were filled with FaceTime calls, texts, and Snapchat messages. I had always prayed that God would send the right person into my life, and I knew I needed to learn more about Garrett. I shared everything with my parents, telling them how amazing he was. Weeks later, I met his family at a gathering, and our relationship grew deeper. On September 20, 2020, Garrett asked me to be his girlfriend. I was overjoyed! From that moment on, we created countless memories together: walking in the rain to the movies at Bridge Street, trying new restaurants, and strolling through Big Spring Park. One of our favorite memories is our first “fancy” date at Melt in downtown Huntsville. As time passed, we celebrated holidays together. I attended his family’s Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings in 2020, and in May 2021, I cheered him on at his college graduation in Chattanooga. In 2022, he supported me at my college graduation in Boston, his first time traveling by plane. However, 2022 brought a challenge. Garrett got a job in Tallahassee, Florida, and had to move. It was tough, but we continued talking constantly. He made the six-hour-and-forty-seven-minute drive back almost every weekend. I was pursuing my masters and considering a Ph.D. near him, but he advised me to wait and see what the future held. After nine months apart, Garrett surprised me with the news that he found a job back in Huntsville. We moved him back on July 22, 2023, one of the happiest days of my life. Throughout it all, we traveled, celebrated birthdays, attended a Nashville Predators game, watched the Trash Pandas, and supported each other through the loss of our grandparents. We grew closer with each passing day. On May 24, 2024, my mom suggested we get our nails done. She insisted I try acrylic nails for the first time, so I got a French manicure. The next day, Garrett, his family, and I spent a beautiful day at the lake on their pontoon. Garrett mentioned a fancy new restaurant his parents want us to try, and the next day after church, we headed back to the Guntersville. I was eager to eat, but Garrett led me on a walk instead. He acted strangely, and I saw a girl hiding nearby. As we walked, Garrett led me to the waters edge. I hesitated to walk in my wedges, but he encouraged me to take them off. Finally, by the lake, he pulled out the most beautiful ring and asked, Will you marry me? Overwhelmed, I answered Si, as I often do in Spanish. The girl hiding turned out to be Karen, our photographer, capturing the moment. We celebrated with our families and close friends at a surprise engagement party. It was a beautiful day, and as the night ended, I went to bed as the future Mrs. Cantrell. This is just the beginning of our love story, and we hope youll join us as we continue our journey together.
