What is the dress code?
There is no particular dress code, but we'd love to see our family and friends get all dressed up for our big day!
Can I bring a guest/date?
Due to limited space at our venue, we can only accommodate guests who have been formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you have specifically received a plus one or have a family, they will appear under your name when you RSVP. Thank you for understanding!
What traditions will be incorporated?
We will be doing a traditional money dance. Generally, it's an upbeat and interactive part of the reception involving dancing with guests and bills being pinned on the couple by their guests. The money is a nice gesture to help the couple start their new lives together and a unique way for guests to show their love and support for the couple's union.
We will also be doing the sea snake dance. The couple stands on opposite chairs and joins hands to create an arch. Guests pass under the arch while holding hands and weaving through the reception in a fast-paced, snake-like line. This fun and symbolic dance represents the couple's strength and unity as they stand together while family and friends support them.
Where do I park for the church ceremony?
The closest parking areas to the church are in the Palm Drive Oval or at Tresidder Memorial Union. The walk from either of these lots may take 10-15 minutes. Permit parking spaces in these lots are not enforced on weekends. Please plan accordingly so you arrive on time.
Can I take pictures during the church ceremony?
Memorial Church does not allow photography of any kind during the ceremony. Our hired photographers will take care of that, and we are happy to share those pictures with our guests down the road!
Can you throw rice/confetti/flowers at the couple?
No, unfortunately Memorial Church does not allow us to toss anything.
How do I get from Memorial Church to Portola Valley Community Center?
We ask that every guest figures out their transportation from the ceremony to the reception. Try carpooling! It is about a 16 minute drive from the church to the community center.
Where do I park for the reception?
There are two lots that are near the community center-feel free to park there.
