Here's the story of a lovely ladyWho was bringing up three very lovely kidsAll of them had hair of gold like their motherThe youngest one a boy It's the story of a man named TimothyWho was busy with a teenaged boy of his ownThey were two of them living both togetherYet they were all alone 'Til the one day when the lady met this fellowAnd they knew that it was much more than a hunchThat this group must somehow form a familyThat's the way we all became the Algoe bunch! My life had settled into a predictable rhythm, I had two teenagers at home and a daughter who was in college. My job at Walmart’s auto service center provided a steady distraction. One Sunday, as I was working on a customer’s car, a man and his son approached the bay door with a nail in a tire. He caught my eye to say the least but I was at work so I turned up the charm a bit and was on point with my customer service. While I wasn't able to repair the tire, I still made quite the impression in my blue, oil-stained, dickies &amp; blonde braid. The following Wednesday, my sister Carey happened to be in town. She had stopped for the night on her way home to Florida after a long trip from NJ. We headed to a local dive bar known as "Bahama Bob's" to grab a beer and play some pool. While grabbing another round, Carey struck up a conversation with a man at the bar. When she returned, she brought him over. “Cyndie, this is Tim,” she introduced us. To his surprise, it was me, the lady from Walmart that had caught his eye from the other day. “Nice to meet you again,” Tim said with a smile. We spent the evening playing pool and talking and discovered we had much in common. We shared our stories, finding comfort and connection in our similar experiences. We ended the evening swapping phone numbers and set up a proper date for the upcoming Friday, March 1st. While working to change oil that Friday morning, my wrench slipped and caught my lip. My tooth punctured a hole in my lower lip. I was mortified but determined not to cancel our plans. A little bit of liquid band-aid went a long way but not all the way. We chose Longhorn Steakhouse, a familiar and comfortable setting. March 1st, 2019, became a night to remember. Over steaks and beer, I explained what happened to my lip and how we may have to forego a first date kiss because the liquid band-aid could only do so much. We talked about our children and our journeys through life. I shared stories about my kids and career, while Tim spoke lovingly of his children and his life. We laughed and found a deep connection, realizing that what began as a chance encounter was blossoming. Over the next year, we spent as much time together as we could. The onset of the 2020 pandemic brought new challenges. With everything shut down, Tim and I had to get creative with our dates. We enjoyed cooking new recipes and having dinner dates at each other's house. We enjoyed walks through the neighborhood and working from home together was nice. We found joy in the simple act of being together, no matter what the occasion. In the midst of the pandemic, Tim’s youngest son Jackson, graduated high school, marking a milestone in our newly blending family’s life. Everything was going great until I fell ill in the fall of 2020. Doctors ran countless tests but couldn’t determine the cause of my sickness for three long years. Tim supported me through every step, no matter how scary. He adjusted his routines to help me adopt a diet suitable for my condition, offering unwavering support and love. Our relationship grew stronger, tested by adversity but fortified by our shared commitment. After three years of dating, we decided to move in together in July 2022. Together, we transformed his house into a home filled with love and laughter. On March 1, 2024, Tim proposed at the Pink House in Savannah, Georgia. Over dinner, Tim asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I said yes, tears of joy mingling with the soft candlelight. It was beautiful. We began planning our wedding for March 1, 2025, a date that had become symbolic of new beginnings for us. Our love story is a testament to resilience and the power of love. We faced challenges and found strength in each other. Our journey, marked by chance encounters, shared sorrows, and newfound joys, brought us to a place of deep connection and unwavering commitment. As we prepare for our wedding, we look forward to a future filled with love, support, and endless possibilities. Our story proves that love can be found in the most unexpected places and that, even in the face of adversity, the heart can find its way home.
