Our Wedding

Despite growing up in the same hometown, Tim and Elsie didn't know each other until middle school, when they rode the school bus together. The first thing Tim noticed about Elsie was the variety of animals that often followed her onto the bus: goats, lambs, and dogs. He would try to talk to Elsie by asking her what she was reading, and instead of replying, she would hold the book up so he could read the title himself. Through time, FFA, and band they grew to be friends and the summer after Tim's sophomore year of high school, and Elsie's freshman year, they started dating. The next 6 years are history.

How They Met 

On a hot July evening, as the sun dipped toward the horizon, Tim asked Elsie to go horseback riding. They saddled up and after riding down a dirt country road, they found themselves topping a ridge in the hay field as the golden rays of the sun played their last moments upon the trees of the timber below. Tim talked Elsie into traveling down to the farthest bottom field to look at the soybeans. Winding down through the trees, Tim stopped in a clearing, to help Elsie calm her horse that was acting up. As Elsie checked the tack and cleaned the horse's hooves at Tim's request, he slipped a note card over her saddle horn that read, "The journey of a lifetime begins with a single word, will you saddle up with me for a lifetime of happiness?" As Elsie read the card, Tim got down on one knee, and when Elsie turned around, popped the question. She joyfully replied, "Of Course!"

Directions to Ceremony

Directions from 36 Highway

There will be signs directing traffic to the ceremony location. From Highway 36, turn South on "U" Road (the Woodlawn Road). Travel South for 2 miles and turn right (west) onto 136th Road for one mile. Take a left and travel south for approximately 1/2 of a mile and the ceremony parking will be in the pasture to the east (left).

Inclement Weather

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be at the United Church of Christ in Fairview at 311 S. High Street, Fairview, KS 66425. Check back to the wedding website a day before the wedding if they are forecasting bad weather!

Rachel (or Rachee-poo as Elsie affectionately likes to call her) was Elsie's college roommate for 2 years at Fort Hays State University and has been her partner in crime ever since. Rachel is from Atchison Kansas and graduated from FHSU with a bachelor's degree in Physics. Her main hobby is eating entire pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream in a single setting while watching How I Met Your Mother with Elsie. Rachel and Elsie are pros at testing the 0 to 60 mph times on vehicles. 

Rachel Schmidt 

The fact that Travis and Tim survived their brotherhood and made it to this point is a crowning achievement. After a childhood of fishing, hunting, and bicycle jousting it was only natural that Travis would be Tim's best man. One of Tim's greatest role models has been Travis, and Tim is honored to have such a brother and best man in his wedding party.

Zack and Tim met through similar interests in high school. Zack was a role model to Tim in forensics and the school plays. Tim is happy to have Zack in the wedding party as a dear friend and Elsie's brother.

Zackary Suhr

Brandi (or Brandi Anna as Elsie affectionately likes to call her) is a dear friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law of Elsie's. Brandi is from Sabetha Kansas, a junior at Kansas State, and lived in Clovia, a 4-H scholarship house, with Elsie for a year! Brandi, Tim, and Elsie have spent many a night watching M*A*S*H and contemplating life.

Brandi McCoy

Trenton was in many ways the friend and younger brother that Tim never had. They spent countless hours together during high school and college, but there isn't room here for those stories. From shooting guns to watching Blazing Saddles, Tim and Trenton have made it to the point in their lives where Tim would only have it for Trenton to be one of his groosmen.

Trenton Cox

Courtney (or Miss Schultz as Elsie affectionately likes to call her) is a wonderful friend of Elsie's and they were on the 2013 Kansas State Meat Judging Team together. Courtney, a Haviland Kansas native, graduated from Kansas State with a degree in Animal Sciences and is now working in seed sales for AgReliant Genetics. Courtney was involved in (aka: the mastermind of) many of Elsie's Manhattan shenanigans over the last 3 years.

Courtney Schultz 

Rob has always been a  "Rock and Roll" kind of guy, and this is one of the reasons that he and Tim get along so well. From his mad dancing skills to his love of craft beer, Rob and Tim have been great friends since high school. From survival campouts to new movies, Rob has never been afraid to try something new, which is why he makes an excellent groomsman.

Rob Nagely 

Crystal (or baby bear as Elsie affectionately likes to call her, or baby platypus as Tim affectionately likes to call her) is a delightful friend of Elsie's and also her "little" in Clovia. Crystal who is an Illinoin by birth, but is slowly being converted to a Kansas girl at heart, is a junior at Kansas State in Agricultural Education. Crystal and Elsie's friendship consists of agricultural talks, food, laying by the pool, laughing, and working out, most recently a half marathon called "running with the cows". She affectionately calls Elsie "Mama Duck" and Tim "Papa Bear".

Crystal Dau

There is something about starving and freezing to death that Tim and Isaac find completely enjoyable, which is why Isaac is a member of the wedding party. Whether on a survival camp , shooting bows, or discussing world issues and Jesus over a cup of coffee, Tim and Isaac have become great friends in the last few years. Friendships created in the face of hardship last a lifetime.

Isaac Wenger

Jancey (or Jancey as Elsie affectionately likes to call her) is a magnificent friend and role model of Elsie's and lived with her in Clovia. Jancey graduated from Kansas State with a degree in Agricultural Economics and currently works for the Kansas Soybean Commission. She hails from Neodesha (Southeast) Kansas, but don't judge her for that. She has inspired Elsie with her joy on many a Konza hike and Sonic run.

Jay Jay is Tim's cousin from Phillipsburg, Kansas. Tim and Jay Jay love to fish, shoot guns, ride horses, and fossil hunt together! Tim has be known to say that the only person who could get him to play cowboys and Indians at age 22 is Jay Jay.

Alex is Tim's cousin from Phillipsburg, Kansas.  Tim and Elsie love to spend time with Alex playing hide-and-seek, riding horses, and fishing!
