We first met in 2017 while working for two sister brands under the same parent company. Tinsley still jokes about the morning she tried to say hi while I was making coffee and I didn’t notice her... though in reality, I definitely did. Life just had us on different paths then.
A few months later, after I’d left the company, fate gave us another chance. We ran into each other at an industry event, and I hoped I might finally get to talk with her (and maybe even ask her out). We made plans to meet up afterward at Frank’s hot dog joint, but since it was her birthday weekend and her feet were tired from heels, Tinsley called it an early night. So there I sat at Frank’s with people I barely knew, wondering if I’d missed my chance again.
Thankfully, Bumble intervened.
Just a couple days later, her profile showed up, we matched immediately, and plans for a first date happened just as fast. From that moment on, we were practically inseparable.
Within three months (ignoring every “rule” about moving too quickly) we moved in together. Instead of crashing and burning, it became one of the best decisions we ever made. Around that time, we adopted our first dog child, Riley, who instantly became the light of our lives.
Not long after, we packed up and moved to Las Vegas for a work opportunity. We didn’t love the city, but we loved each other, and that made all the difference. After a year, we returned home to Austin… just in time for COVID lockdowns. Spending every waking moment together could have gone terribly, but for us, it only brought us closer.
During that time, after saving a bit of money, I gave Tinsley a choice... not an ultimatum, just an option:
We could buy a house… or I could buy a ring.
She chose the home.
She dreamed of a place that was uniquely ours, and building that space together has been one of the greatest joys of our relationship. It’s warm, welcoming, and filled with love and with our pets: Riley, Cody, and our cat babies Sylvie and Nadja cheering from afar.
And then, after seven wonderful years together, I finally proposed. Pulling off a surprise wasn’t easy, but I managed it. The ring lived in a kitchen cabinet for over a month (the one place I knew she’d never look). On her birthday, after brunch and a visit to one of our favorite wineries, with just the two of us there, I asked Tinsley to marry me. She had no idea it was coming, and her reaction made the moment perfect.
We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people who mean the most to us. We’ve built a life we love... a home full of warmth, personality, pets, and joy... and we can’t wait to share this day with you.
We chose the day before Halloween because it’s our favorite time of year...
Anyone who’s seen our house during spooky season knows we go all out, so it feels perfectly “us” to bring everyone into a celebration filled with the magic and happiness we hold close.
It’s going to be a beautiful, unforgettable day... and we can’t wait to share it with you.
