Jacob and Tira met like most people do these days—on a dating app. But that’s where the usual story ends. After realizing he hadn’t responded in a couple of days, Jacob sent a panicked text along with a sincere apology, and they quickly set their first date for the following week. A few days before their first date and wanting to make up for the early misstep, Jacob offered to pick Tira up from the airport after spending the weekend in Arkansas, expecting her to decline. But to his surprise, a couple of hours later, he was pulling into the arrivals terminal at Cleveland Airport, searching for a girl whose name he wasn’t even sure how to pronounce.Tira came walking out, SEC sweatshirt and all, and thankfully Jacob pronounced her name right. They made the short drive back to her Lakewood house, chatting for hours about her trip, college, and anything else that came to mind. A few days later, their first official date picked up right where they’d left off, with easy conversation flowing over cocktails under the Cleveland summer sky.What began in that first week soon turned into months spent together. Eventually, they moved into their first apartment in Tremont, which also became the first home for their two pups, Mabel and Herbie.Four and a half years, three apartments, and one cross-country move later, Jacob and Tira continue to take on new adventures in a relationship neither of them could have predicted from the start.

Clay is Tira’s older brother, a go-to for life advice and good times. While they may not have always seen eye to eye as kids, adulthood has brought them much closer, something Tira is incredibly thankful for. Recently, Clay became a first-time dad to little Louis, and one of Tira and Jacob’s favorite things is watching him and his wife, Audrey, navigate this exciting new phase of life.

Tira's big sister in Kappa Kappa Gamma and her junior-year roommate, Kennedy has always been a constant cheerleader in Tira's life. One of the highlights from the past few years was when Kennedy moved to Pittsburgh to complete a fellowship with the University of Pittsburgh Athletics, which brought her to Jacob's hometown and just two hours away from Cleveland. Now, she's living her dream job as a dietitian with Mizzou Athletics—Go Tigers... and Hogs!

A friendship that formed quickly and has become the foundation for some of Tira’s most cherished memories over the years. Keely and Tira were Pom Squad teammates and lived together during Tira’s sophomore year of college. Tira can always count on Keely for a steady head and a good laugh. Now, Tira and Jacob cherish any time they get to spend with Keely and her husband, Trevor, who live just under an hour from Kansas City.

Abby is the ultimate girl's girl and the BEST dog mom to her sweet baby girl, Reba! Tira and Abby were on the Arkansas Pom Squad together and roomed together during Tira’s sophomore year of college. Some of Tira’s favorite college memories are with Abby, and she knows Abby will always be in her corner with a dose of positive energy. Jacob and Tira were honored to celebrate Abby and her husband Tanner at their wedding recently!

From competitive dance in high school (#spacnation) to navigating Arkansas Pom Squad tryouts and spending all four years on the team together, to rooming together both freshman and senior year of college, Emily and Tira have shared some of the most rewarding—and slightly stressful—times of their lives! Fun fact: Emily and Tira lived one floor below Emily’s now-husband, Reed, in Founders Hall at the University of Arkansas. Who would have thought where those kids would end up now!

Faith has been one of Tira's best friends since middle school! From being girls together to now both being wives—and soon-to-be wives—these two have cheered each other on through every phase of life. Faith was the first friend Tira introduced Jacob to (via FaceTime), and Jacob and Tira love watching all the amazing work Faith and her husband, Garrett, continue to do with their non-profit, Return Hope International.

A built in best friend, and Jacob's older brother, Zach has been a constant companion, especially as the two have gotten older and grown closer. A shared love for golf and a good glass of bourbon have now expanded to an annual elk hunting trip in Colorado, that is the highlight of both of their years. Separated by 1,100 miles, the two catch up daily, often trading jabs and keeping things light, in classic brotherly fashion.

Ask anyone (yes, even our parents) and they'll tell you that Joe is the life of the party. A lively personality, he walks into a room full of strangers and leaves with friends. In the weekends he came to visit Jacob at Pitt, he left a favorite of all the roommates, and those are some of Jacob's favorite memories of his time there. Find him on the dance floor with a drink, or two, in hand.

Joe Maggi

The youngest of four, and the only girl, Anna is the one that keeps everyone on their toes. Jacob spent most of his high school years driving Anna to and from Starbucks or whatever store she wanted, blasting music and singing along with his younger sister. She adopted her brothers sarcasm, which can get a bit feisty if you wake her up too early. Yes, she is probably the favorite as the only girl, just ask Jacob's parents, who put up a specific "Anna tree" at Christmas.

Anna Maggi

David and Jacob lived together their senior year at Pitt, and quickly became best friends. Smart and charismatic, David is attending medical school at Albany Medical College, but always finds time when the two are back in Pittsburgh to stop and visit with the Maggi family. Bonding over books and whatever random hypothetical Dave has thrown out that day, the two have been quick friends since meeting. (Ask him about the time he ran a marathon)

Freshman year roommates, Bryant and Jacob spent all their time together in class, at the field and playing pranks on their roommates. Visiting each other in Pittsburgh and York, where Bryant lives with his lovely wife Sarah, the two continue to be constants in each others lives. Steady and levelheaded, you can't ask for a better person in your corner than Bryant.

The Jacobs are about as close as you can be for two guys separated by just under a foot in height. "Steak Saturdays" was a favorite of Meyer's, where they would go to the driving range and Jacob would cook, while he watched football on the couch. (a bit one-sided, yes, but still some of my favorite lazy afternoons) Freshman year roommates, coworkers for a year and undoubtedly friends for life.

As a coworker of Tira's when she first moved to Cleveland, TJ has been there from the very start of Jacob and Tira's relationship. Some of their fondest memories in Cleveland include TJ and his fiancé, Bri! From Guardians games and golf courses to monopoly game nights, Jacob and Tira cannot imagine getting married without the person that has been around since the beginning.

Tira’s favorite local coffee shop and another coffee shop that has locations across the Cleveland area, including downtown!

Erie Island Coffee Company

The perfect spot for coffee and delicious pastries! Jacob and Tira’s first apartment was in Wagner Awning and looked directly into the bakery. Bakery Patrons most likely saw Mabel sunbathing in the window every day that they lived there.

A classic breakfast spot in Playhouse Square. Jacob and Tira frequented this diner when Jacob lived downtown.

The BEST Jewish deli you will ever go to! A favorite of Jacob and Tira’s, Larder is located just west of downtown Cleveland. Make sure you order the Pickle Platter... you wont regret it.

A perfect spot to kill a few hours, especially if the weather is nice! Lakewood Truck Park is less than a 5 minute walk from Jacob and Tira’s second apartment together, so they spent quite a bit of time there hanging with friends and enjoying food from local food trucks.

Incredible Thai food! Jacob and Tira spent multiple days biking here with a backpack cooler, loading the cooler with Pad Thai and Curry, and heading to Edgewater Park for a picnic on the beach.

Award-winning BBQ in downtown Cleveland! Jacob and Tira’s first pup may or may not be named after this restaurant... You can’t go wrong with the smoked sausage or fatty brisket.

Across the alley from Mabel’s, Butcher and the Brewer is a great spot for lunch or dinner! Get the Albino Stout if they have it!

This restaurant quickly became a favorite of Jacob and Tiras. They do not take reservations but with it being a tapas-style restaurant, tables free up quickly. Head over to Parnells Pub for a drink if you have to wait!

Zhug

Yummy sushi with an intimate setting in the heart of the Tremont neighborhood. Jacob and Tira spent quite a bit of time here, and at other restaurants on Professor Ave, when they lived in their first apartment together.

A very neat atmosphere to check out! This restaurant and bar is located in an old bank building in the Ohio City neighborhood.

OUR FAVORITE ACTIVITIES

A Cleveland classic and a place that Tira and Jacob recommend everyone sees! From fresh fruit and veggies, to meat, to desserts, the West Side Market is the oldest public market in the city. It also sits on a popular street - W 25th - where you can find good coffee spots, great food, and multiple breweries!

West Side Market

You can stay on the hill and enjoy a picnic at tables or head down to the beach and enjoy the water of Lake Erie. Either way, Edgewater Park is a great spot to visit and take in the skyline of Cleveland.

A must if you are a music fan and its your first time in Cleveland! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located in Downtown, right next to the Cleveland Browns stadium and Lake Erie, and less than a mile away from our hotel.

A beautiful park with biking/walking trails. Jacob and Tira spent quite a bit of time here walking the trails with Mabel and Herbie.

Rocky River Reservation

Ranked as one of the best art museums in the United States, the Cleveland Museum of Art is a great way to spend time on the east side of Cleveland. The Cleveland Museum of Art is home to the left of three panels of Monets Water Lilies, with the right panel owned by Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, close to where Jacob and Tira currently live.
