Q + A

Is there a dress code?

Casual dress attire is requested which includes nice jeans. Don’t forget your dancing shoes and please do not come dressed in all white! :)

Where do I park at the Worship on the Mountain? What about at the Merricks residence?

There is plenty of room to park at the ceremony spot. As many of you already know, most of our family live next door to the Merricks residence. You can park anywhere near the location. Please make sure to park out of the roadway in a safe spot. There will be cars already parked along the yards as a guide.

Why can’t I find the address for the Worship on the Mountain?

The ceremony spot is technically a church service location in the middle of a beautiful field on top of White Oak Mountain so it does not have a physical address. It can be found in the 200-block of David Giles Lane. There will be signs with arrows to help you find the correct spot.

Are kids allowed to come to the wedding?

With respect, while we love our little ones, we have decided to have our wedding be an adult-only occasion, with the exception of the bridal party. We hope you are still able to share in our big day!

Can I bring a guest to the wedding?

Yes, you can bring a plus one to the wedding. When you RSVP on the website, please specify who will be your plus 1. If you have any questions, please reach out to us! Our venue has limited seating, so we ask that you give an accurate number of guests attending. Thank you!

What items do you need for gifts?

We have lived together for a while now and are not in desperate need of much. Instead, we ask that you make any donation you can to our honeymoon fund. Please do not feel obligated to donate or buy us anything. We appreciate anything you can do for us!

What kind of food will be offered at the wedding?

Cocktail hour food will be a charcuterie board with a variety of fruits, meats, cheeses, spreads, and crackers. Supper will be catered by Eddie Blachura. He will provide a buffet style supper including chicken in a special sauce, mac n cheese, red loaded potatoes, and vegetable medley. We will have cake and cookies for dessert.

Will there be alcohol provided or is this a dry wedding?

We will provide some beer and wine. I encourage you to bring your own if you like a particular brand. We are asking that no liquor be brought to the wedding as it makes some people act a little too wild :)

Why are invitations being sent out so close to wedding date?

Being behind the ‘normal time line’ for wedding planning was not our intention. Life has thrown big obstacles our way and has been severely hectic. Time simply got away from us. We sincerely apologize for the short notice of our big day. We hope that you are still able to come celebrate with us!

Who owns where cocktail hour and the reception are held?

The Merricks residence is owned by Emilys grandparents, LeRoy & Valerie Merricks. They bought this property in 1972 and have built a beautiful life and home for their family. We are so excited to have part of our wedding at such a sentimental place in our hearts! Fun fact: Majority of Emily’s family (on both her mom and dad’s side) live within a 5 mile radius of their home. We like to call it our family compound :)

What if I have questions the day of? Who can I contact for help?

Please do not contact the bride or groom with questions on their wedding day! If you have questions please contact either the brides father, Donnie Fowler, at 434-489-9331 or the grooms father, Timmy Barrett, at 434-203-2088.
