Whether you're traveling from near or far, there are so many fun places to visit and things to do in the Austin/North Austin area! TJ and I suggest some of the following:
As a native Austinite, it was hard for Madi to narrow down Austin activities, but here are a handful of iconic ones!
Outdoors:
- Congress Bridge Bats (seasonal, ends early November, see thousands of Mexican freetail bats emerge from the Congress bridge! choice viewing spot on the grassy hill vantage point of the Statesman Bat Observation Center)
- Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park (iconic natural spring pool, a chilly 68 degrees year round and Zilker Park, hosting dogs, picnics, and great view of the city!)
- Barton Creek Greenbelt (there are many entrance points to this hike, which leads to waterfalls and a swimming hole, presence of water weather-dependent!)
- Mt. Bonnell (looking for a quicker hike with amazing views? this is the one! shoutout to anyone who can identify the exact spot TJ proposed to Madi here) :)
- Hike and Bike Trail and Boardwalk at Ladybird Lake (grab a morning coffee and take in the cityscape views along this lakeside trail)
Museums: (these are all within a few miles of each other!)
- History: Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, LBJ Presidential Library Museum
- Art: Blanton Art Museum
Food:
- Terry Black's BBQ (Texas BBQ, enough said)
- Kerbey Lane Cafe (iconic Austin breakfast spot)
- Veracruz Tacos (literally all the tacos here are delicious and the agua frescas are so refreshing!)
- Mozart's Coffee Roasters (delicious coffees and amazing desserts!)
- Tumble 22 Chicken (TJ and I recommend the chicken sandwich!)
- Chuy's (this is actually a Tex-Mex chain but the Chuychanga with Boom Boom sauce is so so good!)
General/Historical:
- Downtown Georgetown, a cute and quaint historic downtown square with a bunch of great food, drink, and shopping spots!
Food and Drink:
- In the Georgetown square, we love Lamppost Coffee for coffee and pastries and have had some awesome breakfast tacos at Mikey V's Tacos on the Square
Outdoors:
- San Gabriel Park (this park has a hike/bike trail that runs alongside the San Gabriel River, and for any fellow disc golfers, the San Gabriel Disc Golf Course is super fun!)
- Cedar Breaks Park (a fairly easy/moderate hike ending with a lush, green waterfall. TJ and I have hiked the San Gabriel River Trial/Goodwater Loop, which ends at the Crockett Garden Falls! The falls are refreshing, a little slippery, but absolutely beautiful!)
- Inner Space Caverns (this is a breathtaking collection of underground caves, full of stalactites/stalagmites and other natural wonders) https://innerspacecavern.com/
- Garey Park (if you can't get enough of the park where our venue is located, continue exploring the hiking and equestrian trails, pavillions, and ponds of this flagship Georgetown park!)

- Saltlick in Round Rock (Texas BBQ, enough said)
General/ Historical/Food and Drink:
- Downtown Round Rock (enjoy historical downtown Round Rock restaurants, boutiques, and charm!)
- THE Round Rock at Brushy Creek Crossing (this stop can be historical + outdoorsy, see the historical rock coining the city's name and walk the Brushy Creek trail)
Shopping:
- Round Rock Outlets (shop till you drop!)
- Bass Pro Shop (gigantic outdoor gear and apparel store that includes a museum, art gallery, antique store, and aquarium)
