Our Love Story
Todd and I met in November of 2023. I gave him my number on a dating app and completely forgot that I had done so. A few days later, he called me while I was wrapping up a hectic day at work. I answered the call and was thrown off by the accent and Louisiana zip code. I thought it was a spam call or telemarketer. I stupidly hung up, and as soon as I did, it dawned on me that he may have been the guy I had given my number to a few days back. I called him back after I got off work, and he was more than gracious of my rudeness. I was instantly intrigued by his chivalrous and charming personality. I knew he was different from any other man I had dated before. After a few phone calls, we had our first date. I had just told myself I was done dating for a while, so I went semi begrudgingly, but curious about this Louisiana man. We met up for coffee and had a great time, but were both nervous and couldn’t get a good read on each other. I was still pleased that he continued to call me and asked me out on another date. On my way to the second date, he called and asked if I wanted to take a dance lesson for our third date. I started to think there might really be something here. We had a great second date, but it was on our third date, learning how to do the “box step” that I really started to catch feelings. Before I knew it, we were spending every Sunday together, going to Church, and spending the afternoon getting food and playing card games. I found myself getting butterflies waiting for Sunday to roll around so I could see him. I loved his sense of humor, kind heart, incredibly strong work ethic, and unapologetic love of God. Although we are different in so many ways, our differences complement one another. He inspires me to be the best version of myself, and most importantly, he leads our relationship with guidance from the Lord. Somewhere between learning how to make sourdough bread, playing rummy, and talking about our love for God, we exchanged “I love you’s” and both knew that we wanted this to be a forever thing. It was very clear to me that this was the man I had been praying for my entire life. We have spent the last year and half deepening our relationship with each other and God, traveling, adopting a naughty kitten, cooking, binge watching Frasier, and everything in between. On March 16th 2025, Todd planned a beach day and we drove to the coast. After getting lunch, we took a stroll along the waves. I turned to look at the ocean, and when I turned back around, Todd was on one knee asking me to marry him! The exact beach where he popped the question was very accurately named Diamond Beach. We are very excited to make the commitment to each other under God and to celebrate with our friends and family on September 20th!
