Our meeting began in a way neither of us would have expected. On a girls weekend, Jen was brought to a dating app called Upward. Tom joined the app on a whim due to a Facebook ad. After two weeks of exchanging messages Tom asked to meet, to which Jen accepted and suggested Just Love Coffee Cafe in Fond du Lac. After over three hours of great conversation, phone numbers were exchanged and long talks on the phone began. The following weeks brought many moments together, including ice skating, Jen surprising Tom on his lunch break, and a day trip to Milwaukee that would seal the deal. Not long after spending time getting to know each other’s family and friends, we began to share our love for the outdoors and traveling. After trips to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Vermont, we embarked on an international trip.

When our travels brought us to Norway during our trip to Scandinavia, Tom was looking for the right location and opportunity to propose. After seeing pictures shared by a local Norwegian woman, Tom knew the right place would be Mt. Brøknipa, which featured a stunning view of Sørfjorden. After reaching the top, Tom asked a pair of Norwegian men to take our picture. When Jen turned around to find Tom down on one knee her first reaction was shock, followed by laughter, which then caused both of them to laugh. Jen kissed Tom before he even got a word out. Tom proposed and Jen said YES!!
