Our Wedding

Tom and Kelly met in Pacific Beach, California, where they quickly bonded over shared military experiences, a love for the ocean, and, of course, Kelly's awesome dog. Though they were both facing tough times, these two brought light back into each other's eyes by finding common ground and truly understanding one another. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Their adventures took them from endless beach days to holiday getaways, exploring not only Southern California but the entire country. Fast forward a couple of years, another Malinois pup and a beautiful baby boy later, Tom and Kelly made the decision to spend the rest of their lives together—filled with more love and warmth than the San Diego sun.

Our Story

San Onofre was the sweet easy low-simmering crucible of American surfing in the 1930s and early 1940s. Cool stuff right? The San Onofre Historic Beach Club and Surf Museum is centered within the San Onofre State Beach grounds. This land also encapsulates Trestles Surf Beach, campgrounds, beach cottages, and an RV park, all leased by the State of California to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The venue itself has stair access directly down to the beach and facilitates the perfect California Beach Wedding vibe.

DIRECTIONS AND TRANSPORTATION   The address for the San Onofre Beach Club is 51811 Beach Club Rd San Clemente, CA 92672. THIS ADDRESS NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO GOOGLE MAPS- Apple Maps will not take you to the exact location of the venue. Take exit 71 off of I-5 and head straight to the Basilone Road Gate. Maps may send you south after you get off of exit 71- ensure that you simply follow the signs to the Basilone Road Gate located right off of exit 71. If you are coming from the south it will be a right hand turn right off the highway, if you are coming from the north it will be a left hand turn to the gate. Simply follow basilone road to the right after coming through the gate until you hit your first set of lights. Take a right at the light onto beach club road and follow that to the beach and venue. See photos below. The gate guard will check your State REAL ID or Passport and verify that you are on the access roster. If you anticipate having issues with your ID or have an issue at the gate call Tom at (508) 364-8049. From the gate, the beach and venue is about 1.5 miles down Basilone Road with a right turn onto beach club road.   BEACH BASH BEFORE We will be set up on the beach with grills, chairs, drinks, etc- as you approach the beach driving on beach club road heading towards the venue you will drive under a bridge- After that bridge we will be about 200 meters up the road set up on the beach at the Cottons beach group site.. There is a parking lot after the bridge underpass if you are driving yourself.   IF YOU ARE DRIVING YOURSELF There is ample parking both at the beach bash site and in front of the venue for wedding day. Be prepared to present your REAL ID to the gate guards after you turn off the highway at the Basilone Road Gate- ensure you tell them you are on the Event Base Access Roster for the Grimmer Beach Wedding Event.   IF YOU ARE UBERING The Uber can take you to the gate but cannot get onto base. We will have a van available to shuttle you to and from the gate. Please Contact Tom at (508) 364-8049 to coordinate pickup on the Beach Bash Day. The Day of the Wedding the Van will be running loops starting at 3:45 through the start of the ceremony at 5 PM. Be prepared to present your REAL ID to the gate guards after you turn off the highway at the Basilone Road Gate- ensure you tell them you are on the Event Base Access Roster for the Grimmer Beach Wedding Event. The van will be running loops back to the gate at the end of the night as well.    WEDDING DAY BUS TRANSPORTATION We have coordinated a yellow school bus to transport guests on wedding day to and from the venue. The bus will depart from the parking lot of the Comfort Suites San Clemente Beach (3701 S El Camino Real San Clemente, CA 92672) at 4 PM Sharp on October 11. The bus will take guests through the Basilone Road Gate and to the Beach Club- be prepared to present your REAL ID to the gate guards at this time. The bus will be making a return trip from the San Onofre Beach Club to the Comfort Suites San Clemente at 11 PM at the conclusion of the reception.    Specially negotiated group hotel rates for our Wedding are located at the link below.
