Tommy and Caroline met shortly after starting medical school at Creighton in Phoenix. With moving to a new city and beginning the next stage of their professional careers, Caroline was eager to focus on her schoolwork. In the first week of classes, the school put students into several small groups. In one of those groups, Tommy noticed Caroline with an empty seat next to her and promptly grabbed that spot. Tommy was drawn to Caroline from early on, a woman who seemed completely content in herself, independent and capable. From that point on, Tommy made an effort to show up 10 minutes early only to that group, so that he could grab his same seat, with hopes that Caroline would sit next to him. For the next five months, Caroline would take that same seat without fail. During that time, Tommy would find excuses to talk to Caroline - asking her about study strategies, her personal life, and occasionally teasing her. Caroline was interested in Tommy too, mostly because of his striking good looks. But her interest was piqued when Tommy was amazed to hear that she had six younger siblings, insisting to see a picture of everyone together. Over time, a deep love for family became a resonating note in this budding relationship. As they spent more time together, Caroline eventually visited Tommy's apartment. She noticed Tommy's bookshelf, filled with Christian novels. Having read most of them, she started asking Tommy's thoughts about each of them. He reluctantly informed her that all the books she asked about were on his "to read" list, but in the back of his mind, Tommy was busy thinking that this girl could be the woman he marries. Shortly after this, Tommy asked Caroline if he could take her on a "real date." Ironically, the pair went to a Mexican restaurant that was a refurbished church. Despite Tommy being very interested in Caroline, he was not above using a gift card to pay for dinner. When asked about this later, Caroline says she remembered being attracted to the fact that Tommy was responsible with his money. Since that time, the two of them have shared countless memories, taken many trips to visit their families, and have spent endless hours sitting and talking - by far their favorite activity. Tommy and Caroline have reminisced on the fact that the honeymoon season never seemed to wear off. They are as excited to spend time together now as they were three years ago, with a relationship that has deepened in love and service of the other person first. They both find themselves going to this website to see how many days remain before they begin their new lives together, wherever it may take them.
