Jessie and Tony met in the early days of dating apps while they were both attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Their first date was on South Campus Starbucks one night in Fall 2014 and they realized they could talk about anything and everything without getting tired of one another as the night went on.

They bonded over living in (and strongly disliking) California, choosing "logical" majors of study in college and "daydream" minor focuses of study - realizing they both had creative passions in photography and film.

After a few weeks of getting to know one another, though, they realized their time wasn't quite right. The two mutually agreed to just stay friends. After college, Tony stayed in Flagstaff and Jessie moved back to San Diego. Eventually when Jessie moved back to Arizona, Tony slipped back in to her Instagram direct messages and the two decided to give it one last college try! Luckily, by this time, the two had really figured out who they were and saw how they could really work as a couple.
