What are some activities to do while I'm in town?

There are tons of fun things to do, depending on where you stay!

If you enjoy being active or exploring nature, we would recommending visiting Great Falls Park located in McLean, Virginia- It is the location of our first date and where we got engaged, so it has lots of sentimental value to us! There are tons of beautiful views as well as chill trails.

There are also plenty of hikes out past Leesburg. A favorite is Raven Rocks via Appalachian Trail (on the more difficult side), and Bear's Den Park Trail (shorter and easier). Hit up Bears Chase Brewery after for spectacular views and great drinks.

On the less active side, visiting DC is always a blast! There are tons of museums including The Smithsonian's, The Bible Museum, and the National Children's Museum (where Aubrey, the MOH, works!!). Visiting the monuments at night when they are all lit up is also a favorite.

What about places to eat?

There is no shortage of good food in the area. A Birks family favorite is Sweetwater Tavern located in Sterling, VA for some awesome American food. Another great place around Sterling is Our Mom Eugenia which serves traditional Greek food!

In Reston there is BarTaco and Barcelona Wine Bar which are fun spots.

If you are staying in Leesburg, you have to check out SideBar for great food and fun drinks. Right next door to SideBar is also a place called Tarbender's which is a speakeasy hidden within the bagel shop called Brooklyn Bites. They do live music, specialty cocktails and tasty food. You can also order chili dogs and sausages off the Brooklyn Bites menu into Tarbender's, which I would recommend.
