If you know Dan or I, you know of Leia. She was our first cat, and the center of our world. For anyone that knows us, Leia is still talked about on a daily basis simply for the ever lasting impact she made on the both of us. She was our "soul cat" and for those that may not know, we tragically lost her in an apartment fire on February 11th, 2022.
We wanted to honor her in a significant way for our day. She changed both of us for the better, and we wanted to do something that could make a significant impact on someone else's life. Disasters are real, raw, and impossible to predict. Fires are incredibly terrifying and show no remorse for anything in their path. We wanted to honor and respect the men and women who risked their lives to entire our apartment in an attempt to save our girl. We also want to create a "disaster fund" donation to a local animal shelter whereby animal's are displaced from a multitude of unpredictable disasters.
The funds raised will be split between the Clinton Fire Department and our local SPCA in honor of Leia, to contribute to the continuous efforts to save and take care of animals displaced by natural disasters.
We understand that not everyone will be able to contribute to this fund, and we do not have a goal in mind in regard to the amount of money raised. Any amount can make a significant impact, and honors the life of our perfect little angel. In lieu of a gift, please consider honoring one of the most important beings in our life.
We have used GoFundMe in the past, and unfortunately lost some of the proceeds as GoFundMe claims a portion of the funds raised, therefore we will be accepting donations directly through my venmo: @torilove810. I will be managing the funds raised and donating the funds directly after our wedding day.
