Our Wedding

How We Met

John and Torry actually met online through a dating app. They met right at the end of March 2024. They went on their first date April 19th, 2024, at Oak Mountain Lanes. They went bowling and played in the arcade until they decided to go to lunch at Creekside BBQ. After hanging out a few times, they went on their official second date, the Drake White Concert. The date started at Carrigan's Tap House for dinner and then walking over to the venue for the concert. It was a beautiful spring night in Alabama. At this point John and Torry were pretty much inseparable. She ended up meeting all of his friends and finally his family. If she wasn't working, she was spending her time with John and the dogs. They ended up going on the family vacation in The Keys together in July 2024. She spent a week there while John spent two. This was a defining moment for the relationship. They both knew they never wanted to be apart ever again. By the time Fall came around, deer season was approaching. Torry had already committed to helping John with the Deer Processing Business. They both went to work at setting up the shop together and running straight into Bow Season. John thought he was going to wait until after Deer Season, but on November 4th, 2024, he told Torry to go home early and get ready for dinner. He proposed that night before they left for dinner, and they have been planning out the future since.

Married to Patricia Doolan. Went to Auburn University. Became friends with John through Trey Denney while at Auburn. Works as a Project Manager for MTSI.

Works for Ohio Edison, a First Energy Corporation. Has a wonderful Golden Retriever named Ellie.

Dillon was a gift from Kelsey our Senior Year of High School. He is 10 years old, born December 2014. He is an all-black cat and is super lovey-dovey to those he likes, and very mean to those he does not like. Which one are you? You never know until you find out.

Teddy is my 4-year-old Pitbull/Husky Mix. He was born February 2021 and is very energetic. He loves everyone and everything. He also has his own personality, attitude, and opinion, and will make sure you know it. He will talk back no matter what, but we love him.

When not owning & operating a Seasonal Deer Processing Business, The Carls are usually hosting family & friends. In all the downtime they get, they like to take advantage of seeing everyone and even visiting favorite sights like the Big Pine Key, where the family can snorkel, fish, and catch lobster.

Married to William Elder. Works for the Archdiocese of Birmingham while William studies Law at Samford.

Married to Tyler Chesser as of May 2025. Currently in the final semester of Nursing School and will graduate in May 2025 with prospects of onboarding.

Married to Luke Sotelo.  Currently Studying at Auburn University and planning to graduate in May 2025.

Cece Sotelo (Carl)

Currently finishing up first year at Auburn University with plans to continue studying engineering.

Currently at Spanish Fort High School. She is on the Track Team and has made Honor Society.

Sawyer is John's 5-year-old Sheep Dog/Poodle Mix. He is all white and the most wonderful cuddler. If you want kisses and hugs, this is the dog. He loves all of the attention so make sure you give it to him.

Finn is John's 6-year-old Sheep Dog/Poodle Mix. He is all black and very dopey. He is very good at being a dog. He loves toys and playing fetch or just squeaking a squeaker until you can't stand it. He is very smart and can open doors so make sure to lock them behind you.
