Everyone who knows Jason and I knows that our engagement was long over due. Every time we went away I would think “maybe this time he will ask”, but it never seemed like it was going to happen. It was my birthday weekend. We made plans to go to the Finger Lakes in New York to go see one of the places we’ve been wanting to see, Watkins Glenn. We loaded up our new camper packed Cash (our pupper) a goodies bag and got on our way. Saturday morning we got up and went to see Watkins Glenn state park. It was GORGEOUS! We were blown away by the gorge and all the different waterfalls. When the engagement didn’t happen here I thought for sure there was no hope for it to happen this weekend. We went back to the camper ate lunch had a beer and got our dog cash for our next adventure. We headed to Taughannock falls state park. When we started out our hike we were at the top of the falls. Jason was so concerned that the path wasn’t going to lead to the bottom but I had no idea why. He asked person after person if the trail led to the bottom of the falls. We hiked around 3.5 miles down to the bottom. At the bottom, we jumped over a small wall to join others down at the bottom of the fall. Jason walked cash across the small creek and we walked to the other side. I set my phone up to get some pictures of cash Jason and I but little did I know I would catch my engagement on camera. Jason had told me he got cash a new name tag. I thought this was strange since he always had a name tag. I flipped it over and it read: “will you marry my dad” shocked, I looked at Jason and he was down on one knee. I couldn’t even say yes because I was crying. I didn’t look at the ring at first I just wanted to hug my new fiancé. I was ecstatic to say the least! He put the ring on my hand and it was beyond perfect. I will forever cherish this perfect memory.
August 2012, my best friend (Alex) and I decided to go hangout in lower burrell with our friend makenzie. Little did I know this trip would be life changing. Alex and I drove my white 1995 Jeep Wrangler into burrell and decided to go “mudding” with these guys we just met. Dad would have never approved. After my friends talked me into getting into Jason’s Jeep and riding with him it was love at first sight. We spent the rest of that summer getting to know each other and later started dating. All throughout high school and into college our love continued to grow and continues to go each and every day. I’m so lucky to get to marry my “high school sweetheart.” Our love story definitely hasn’t always been easy, but it’s 110% worth it.
