10.10.15 was truly one of the best and most memorable days of my life! What began as a perfect day in San Diego with my boyfriend, ended with me saying YES to my now fiance!
Tyler and I had been traveling quite a bit in the months prior and we'd decided that we needed a weekend at home in Pacific Beach without any plans (other than an over-due date night). The weather couldn't have been nicer that Saturday, so we started out with a walk down to one of our new favorite lunch spots in PB and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach. It was hot and sunny, the ocean was warm, and our beach-bum selves were in heaven. Side note: To make a semi-long story short, I actually had a death-scare out in the ocean that day, as the waves were atypically huge and I got taken far out in an under-tow. Ironically, instead of ruining my afternoon, it made me so much more appreciative of life (once I'd made it safely to shore, of course). This feeling lasted for the rest pf the day, so I like that part of the story and didn't want to leave it out! :)
That evening, Tyler essentially re-created one of our very first dates (I believe our second date, to be exact), beginning with dinner at the same restaurant and ending with a romantic walk down to the La Jolla shores. Everything was literally PERFECT, and I couldn't have been happier that day- or so I thought! Once we got home and I believed our amazing day had come to an end, Tyler asked me to come give him a hug... the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him! Of course, I said YES. The rest is history!
Shortly after he popped the question (and I had had time to relish in the excitement and surprise), Tyler shared with me what has since become one of my favorite parts of our engagement story. Apparently, he had planned to propose earlier that night, while we were standing in one of the look-out huts along the shoreline. There in the dark, while we were reminiscing about this same night we'd shared together almost 3 years prior, he'd reached into his pocket for the ring... but then had a momentary panic attack when he realized the RING WASN'T THERE!? Then he remembered that he had changed his jeans just before we left! We had a good laugh about that, and I wouldn't change a thing. :) I can't wait to marry my best friend and the LOVE of my life!
