Mark and I first met online in 2021. After texting back and forth for a while, we agreed to meet in person. Mark suggested an escape room–an interesting choice for a first date! While we didn’t find the final code to escape, we did find something even more valuable–a relationship we didn’t want to escape from.

As a traveler, I was excited to discover that Mark was willing to join my adventures. Together we explored Portland, Oregon and cruised through Alaska. We road tripped through Iowa and Illinois, made a quick stop to Canada for brunch on Mark’s birthday, and swam in the Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico. In Iceland we were awed by waterfalls and walked through a glacier. Even a car accident couldn’t ruin our enjoyment of that island.

Mark had planned to propose on our trip to Iceland under the Northern Lights–but they kept eluding us. With no Northern Lights in the forecast, he decided New Year’s Eve would be the next best thing. What a surprise we had then when we stepped outside after the proposal in Reykjavik and saw the Northern Lights dancing across the sky! Add in the fireworks the city sets off to celebrate the New Year and we had the most magical moment!
