Our Story
We met briefly and coincidentally during the summer of 2023 while Amanda was out with friends and Trevor was out with his best friend Travis. Amanda recognized best friend Travis from college days many years prior, which sparked conversation. Amanda had blinders on and wasn’t in the slightest thinking of dating anyone. Little did she know, she looked right into the eyes of her soulmate that night and didn’t even know it! She went home that night and didn’t think twice about the interaction. Trevor later mentioned he “already knew who the Peterman girls were” from working with her dad at NMU in 2014. Although he admitted to having a crush, never did he think he would ever try to date one of Don’s daughters. Fast forward to mid-November 2023, Amanda was finally settled into her new home. Friends of hers had suggested the dating app, Bumble. Despite previously saying she wasn’t going to meet someone online, one quiet night she downloaded the app and immediately recognized Trevor from that night out many months before. She sent a quick witty message thinking it wouldn’t go very far…and here we are! We messaged back and forth for weeks before meeting in person (again). We finally decided that it was time, and scheduled to meet for a hike at one of Amanda and Maggie’s favorite hiking destinations, Blueberry ridge. It was a chilly Sunday, December 3rd to be exact. It was clear to us that through conversation we had a pretty special connection. Neither of us ever brought up officially dating, because we knew from the start that it was apparent we were only focused on each other. Since we didn’t have the “official” discussion, it was decided that December 3rd was our anniversary. We are excited to create an official anniversary this time around, October 10th, 2025. From that first date, to many more, we’ve created unforgettable memories. Some of our favorites include hiking on foot 46 miles along the Lake Superior shoreline from Grand Marais to Munising, side by side rides, sunrise and sunset beach walks, house projects, spending time with Amanda’s nephews, watching the relationship between our 2 dogs Maggie and Cash flourish, Amanda’s surprise 30th birthday Trevor pulled off incredibly, Lake Superior fishing, time spent at Lake camps and deer camp, family get togethers, a trip to Mackinac island, and ultimately our Nashville trip to celebrate momma Jackie’s birthday where Trevor proposed at a beautiful waterfall on September 21st. Amanda’s favorite part was choosing the wedding venue that Trevor brought up in conversation when Amanda was on a trip to Arizona with her friend Kelly. As Amanda and Kelly were hiking the Airport Loop trail in Sedona, Trevor casually mentioned, “Hey, you should check out this wedding venue near you.” Although we had only been dating for roughly 6 months at the time, Amanda was happy that Trevor had marriage on his mind as well, except she didn’t ever think it would be possible to get married so far away from home, so she didn’t even take the time to look at the venue! But when it came to wedding planning and we both agreed we wanted destination and a small wedding, it was a no brainer where we were going to get married. Throughout our relationship, not only have we had fun and amazing memories, we’ve effortlessly made it through some challenging life events that have made us realize just how easy life is together. We are so grateful for an amazing support system of family and friends that get along beautifully, and we look forward to all the memories we get to make throughout our marriage with the people we love the most! We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
