Shylah and Trevor's story begins in 2014 at San Diego State University. Trevor was a 20 year old sophomore living in the greatest fraternity house on Earth - SAE. Shylah was an 18 year old Freshman on campus finding her way as a new member of Alpha Phi and a Journalism major.

Although they had not yet met, it was inevitable that Trevor and Shylah's paths would eventually cross. It was at a community event that Shylah first laid her eyes on Trevor, who was giving a speech to a large group. Shylah asked her friends, "who's that?" "Trevor, the President of SAE," they replied. (He was most definitely NOT the president of SAE) Shylah proceeded to tell her friends, "I'm going to marry him." It was love at first sight... for Shylah at least. Trevor still didn't know she existed as he was in a committed 4-year relationship.

Shylah kept her newfound crush to herself and proceeded on with her Freshman year in college. Outside of a few shoulder brushes at parties, Trevor And Shylah never officially met until the summer of 2015, where Trevor was newly single and ACTIVELY mingling.

Prior to meeting Shylah for the first time, Trevor's fraternity friend had tipped him off that someone had a "crush" on him. It seemed like Shylah's secret wasn't such a secret anymore. Newly single and full of unneeded confidence, Trevor was eager to talk with Shylah and shoot his shot.

Fast forward to the beginning of the 2015 school year. Shylah was a sophomore living in Alpha Phi and Trevor was a Junior living in the nicest room of SAE. It took only about a month into the school year, more specifically, when the school lifted their alcohol ban (aka dry period), for Trevor and Shylah to meet again at an SDSU football game tailgate. From the tailgate to the game, the game to the afterparty, Trevor and Shylah were in the same group all day without ever approaching each other. It wasn't until later in the night when the party was dwindling as the host ran out of alcohol and Trevor came up with the best idea he's ever had, "Do you guys want to come back to my room? I have tequila." Trevor proceeded to guide Shylah and her friends into the presidential suite at SAE where he poured up shots for the group and the night truly began. Trevor and Shylah flirted the night away as the rest of the group left. They didn't even notice.

Trevor bragged about how he's good at everything and Shylah pretended to be disinterested and played hard to get. It was apparent that Shylah and Trevor were different, but compatible at the same time. Their flirtatious energy was electric, and the connection was strong.

Trevor loved Shylah's spark. She was like fire - sassy, energetic, and full of life. She was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen.

Shylah admired Trevor's leadership amongst his crazy friends, his calm and collected energy to balance hers, and it didn't hurt that she thought he was the "hottest man alive."

The night came to an end and little did they know, their lives would be forever changed.

It wasn't until SAE's famous Thrift Shop party where Trevor invited Shylah out on a date. It's rare that Frat guys and sorority girls interact while the sun is up (and sober), so this was huge. Trevor invited Shylah to go thrifting together to find their outfits. Trevor picked her up and they went to the nearest Thrift Shop to begin sifting through clothes. The cash register girl proceeded to ask "Are you guys boyfriend and girlfriend? You're so cute together" they awkwardly laughed and said no. A question they haven't been asked in 9 years since.

Trevor and Shylah continued dating throughout the '15/'16 school year but took it slow. It took them a whole 6 months to call each other boyfriend and girlfriend. It was the pace they needed, as Trevor needed time to establish his own identity, and Shylah to figure out what a relationship was like as this was her real first serious one.

Date dances, themed parties, Coachella, Cabo, Las Vegas... the list goes on. They definitely had the FUN box checked and memories were being made at a rapid pace. Things were getting real.

But it wasn't until real adversity hit that bonded them for life. Only a few months into dating, Shylah had endured a seizure which set her down a road of medical issues. Shylah, expecting Trevor to distance himself when things got tough, but was pleasantly surprised to see Trevor so attentive, gentle, and willing to help. This is where their true love grew.

From then on out, Shylah and Trevor made it a point to put health first and begin to step away from the crazy college party life. They'd frequent the not-so-glamourous 24 hour fitness in El Cajon to workout together and building healthy habits.

Shylah proceeded to land her dream internship at NBC San Diego. Trevor retired from the Frat Life to get an internship at a small start up called Lume Cube, where he still works today.

Shifting their focus and energy towards health, achievement, and loving themselves set the foundation for a life together after college.

Trevor and Shylah graduated from San Diego State University in the spring of 2017. They entered into the 'real world' as a duo with the intention of evolving, growing, and learning about life together.

It wasn't until 2020 when Trevor and Shylah first moved in together at their beach-site apartment in Cardiff By The Sea, California. With COVID spreading and working from home becoming the new norm, Trevor and Shylah learned how to live with each other real quick! It couldn't have been better timing for them to focus on their relationship and learn how to build a happy home together.

That same year, Trevor started his media company (HRIZN Media) and Shylah quit her job to pursue her personal brand full time. You could say COVID was good for them.

Two years later, Trevor finally proposed to Shylah, ending their 8 year boyfriend/girlfriend status and entered them into the Finance era.

Filled with excitement about the future, they bought a new home in California the very next day. This is where they call home for themselves, their dog, Kurtis, and their future growing family.

Trevor and Shylah feel extremely blessed to have incredible friends and family by their side as they embark on this new journey. It's only due to the love and support of their community and the constant blessings of God that they are in a position to enter a new chapter of life and become husband and wife.

It's on Shylah and Trevor's 10th anniversary that they will make it official in Italy with their loved one's by their side. We thank you for being a part of their journey.
