Our Wedding

The Beginning Once upon a time, in a land far, far away called Capitola, there was a chance meeting between two lovely adults, Samantha (Sam) and Trevor. Samantha was about to turn 25, while Trevor was not but a wee lad at the ripe age of 24. And as circumstances would have it, the two had actually met years before during a brief overlap in Jr. High and High School, however their relationship was one solely of acquaintance. After spotting Sam across the restaurant, Trevor approached her and her mother, Shelly, and struck up a conversation. While Trevor was smart enough to help Shelly download Uber and help her leave early, he failed to remember to get Sam's phone number at the end of the night. After adventuring home, he found her on Facebook, messaged her, and asked if she wanted to hangout the next week. Unsure whether or not this was intended to be a date, Sam agreed, and the two met up the following week in downtown Santa Cruz. Trevor picked a tap room across the street from his office for the occasion, little did he know, Sam was an avid beer hater. Although Trevor almost scared Sam away with his raucous laughter, she stuck around as she saw something special and unique about him. It only took one night to decide they should see each other again. It wasn't long before Trevor took Sam on one of his favorite activities, an adventure to the Buena Vista dump. Trevor even elected to sing Sam the "Dump Song", and that's when things really started to get serious. One hangout led to another, and the two have rarely spent a day apart since.

The Since While home projects were always a common pastime, over the next several years Trevor and Sam's mutual love for an active lifestyle led them on countless adventures and helped them make many friends along the way. After only a few months of being together, they went on the President's Club Trip for Looker which landed them at the Four Seasons in Whistler. While the trip included snowboarding, bobsledding at the Olympic track, and drinking vodka in an ice bar, it turns out Sam was most excited about the robes in the hotel room.

But perhaps one of the most exciting years included 11 weddings spanning everywhere from Mexico to Oregon. Spending time with friends and family at all of these events continued to bring Trevor and Sam closer together.

After being together for almost 2 years, and basically living with each other during that time, Sam "officially" moved into the house on Quail Run Rd. with Trevor and his steadfast roommate, Logan Hart. Then in 2019 the two started a remodel on a house on the West Side of Santa Cruz. While the stress of construction projects often drives people apart, this one did nothing but bring Trevor and Sam closer. They were able to design a space of their own, collaborate on how to improve the home, and work every night and weekend for 3 months until they could finally move in.

Covid brought a new aspect to their lives when they were limited on activities, which only got the creative juices flowing further to take on even more home projects. But perhaps the biggest blessing of Covid was the addition of Noche to the family.

And in 2021, the two embarked on their biggest adventure yet by buying their first home together in Soquel.

The Forever Sam After nearly 6 years of being together, 3 homes, and one Noche cat, Trevor took Sam to Costanoa for her birthday. After a few mile hike out to the dunes, they happened upon a beach without another soul in sight. The two spent some time at a lookout point before deciding to take a photo. Sam set a timer and the two took a lovely picture. Trevor mentioned they should take another, so as Sam was setting up the timer, he got down on one knee and posed her a very important question "Will you be my Forever Sam"?

Every day since has remained exciting, as if finishing one remodel and starting another wasn't enough, the two now had a wedding to plan. After considering a number of venues throughout Santa Cruz, one Friday they had the idea of considering Santa Barbara. The next morning they drove in the pouring rain to check out a few venues and landed on the wonderful Villa and Vine on State Street Downtown. Santa Barbara had always been a special place since Trevor went to college there and met some of his best friends, but it is now about to become even more special as he and his best friend, Sam, get to tie the knot there in 2023!
