Our Wedding

How We Met

It began on August 11, 2023, at the YSA dance in Utah. I was going through the crowd when a tall white dude suddenly pushed me aside. I wanted to be mad, but the anger disappeared the moment I saw the young lady with him. She was beautiful, but she didn’t even notice me. Later, the following week I saw her again at a devotional, trying to save seats for her friends only to be invited to sit somewhere else (the very front). I thought perhaps that was it and continued on with my life. Two months had passed, and a friend at work invited me to try dating apps for the first time. It was there that I found her again. I shot my shot and commented on a photo of her and what seemed to be her dog (it was her friend’s dog). Then, a week later she responded. We couldn’t stop chatting and eventually made our way to FaceTime. No sooner or later did we have our first date via FaceTime, cooking food from each other’s cultures. Then, I visited to meet her in person on the beautiful islands of Hawaii on my birthday. Then, the rest took off from there. If you want to know more, come to the wedding.

Trevor's Story

It did not begin on August 11, 2023, but it started on October 24th, 2023, when I decided to respond to his message that commented on me and a dog's photo. He asked if I was Polynesian. In my mind, what is this guy? Do I look Polynesian to you? Who knows it was his strategy to flirt with me. At first, I was not looking for love, but I just made a new friend. He was disappointed with me because he thought I wanted to friend-zone him. Time passes, and I can't stop talking with him via phone and FaceTime calls. Three months later, he visited to meet me in person on the beautiful islands of Hawaii on his birthday. Kanika is my longest-best friend, and I have known her since we were in grade 6.  From our time as mission companions and coworkers to living together and navigating university life, we've truly been through it all. We’ve shared countless moments that have shaped who I am and created a bond between us that feels unbreakable.

Kanika Um

Jerry and I go way back to my first semester at BYUI. He became my mentor and long-time best friend. From doing hackathons together, late-night snow skidding drives in the Walmart parking lot, cooking awesome Mexican food under his guidance, and hanging out and playing Magic the Gathering or video games, we have grown a friendship that goes past college. We've been through the highs and lows together and created an awesome bond as brothers.

Jeremias Platero 

Phenich has been my longest-best friend in church since we were 12 years old.  From the very first day we met back in the primary at a church activity, I knew that our friendship was something truly special. We’ve laughed, cried, and created a million memories I will cherish forever. You’ve been more than just a friend to me; you’ve been a sister, a confidante, and someone who has always had my back.


Sunphenich Rith 

Gavin and I instantly became friends when we met during an Intermediate stats class at BYU-Idaho. That time marked an amazing friendship beyond the classroom and onto so many adventures as well as nerdy talks about Data Science, talks about spiritual doctrine and relationships, and our ongoing friendship beyond college. He is always someone I can go to and has been with me through both our highs and lows. Gavin is a "brother-from-another-mother" to me and someone I am grateful to count as my best friend.

Gavin South 

Pasi is my beautiful islander girl from the stunning Island of Tonga. Our friendship started when I looked back at all the time we’d spent together, from our days at Gateway PCC to now working side by side as RAs. I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible friendship we’ve built. You’ve been more than just a coworker to me; you’ve become like a sister who knows me inside and out. 



Saane Pasi

Alex is my fiancé's best friend's boyfriend hailing from a part of the City of Angels called Rancho Cucamonga (same place where my friend Jerry is from fun fact). Our friendship started from our first meeting when Channa introduced me to Nika who introduced me to him. He is such a patient and funny person who we both have grown to become brothers on the island of Oahu!

Sunnara and his wife June were so kind to let me stay with them when I came to the beautiful islands of Hawaii to visit Channa. We have been great friends bonding over our love for Japanese culture and spear fishing. He is such an amazing individual and has been a big part of our love journey.

One of the funniest and humblest dudes I have met and such a huge support for Channa and me hosting me to stay with them during my visits to Hawaii. He and Raklin are the sweetest and an amazing duo I am so grateful to have met.

Rachael is Trevor's beloved younger sister and my soon-to-be sister-in-law. You are a remarkable woman who means the world to Trevor, and as we celebrate our special day, I am honored to have you stand by my side. I want to create more memories with you as I will become part of your family. I am thankful and blessed to have someone like you in my life.

Sreng is a good friend to Channa and me and was one of the first people I met when I visited Channa for the first time in person. He is an awesome individual and such a great friend and support to Channa.

Jay is my favorite Filipina best friend. It feels like just yesterday when we first found out that we were going to be roommates, and we were both so excited! From those late-night talks about everything under the sun to all the laughter, tears, and random adventures we’ve shared, our friendship has grown into something truly special. You’ve become more than just my first roommate—you’ve become one of my dearest friends.

Michael is such an awesome person and friend to Channa and I. He drove Channa down to meet and pick me up from the airport when I came to visit her in person. He is super funny and a dear friend to us both. We are so happy to have him as one of the groomsmen. :)
