Our Wedding

September 11th 2020The first weekend of our first year of college Trina &amp; (now best friend) Bella bumped into Tristan on the University of Virginia's historic Rotunda steps...the journey was just beginning.

April 9th 2021 Over dinner at Sedona Taphouse, Tristan asked Trina to be his girlfriend! That spring semester was filled with special memories before they parted ways for the summer.

Year 1: 2021 - 2022During the summer, Trina visited Tristan while he was interning in Texas. They took a road trip from Dallas to Virginia Beach, which gave them time to connect and learn more about each other. Back on Grounds, their relationship continued to grow through fun dates, football games, and time with friends. They supported each other in their sports, with Tristan on the basketball team and Trina on the track team, and continued to grow in their faith together along the way.

Year 2: 2022 - 2023Trina and Tristan spent their first summer together in Charlottesville, juggling internships and training for their sports. It was a year full of meaningful moments and growth. They were challenged by one of the hardest school years yet and the demands of their busy schedules, but they stayed intentional about making time for each other. Thursday night date nights became a way to slow down and stay connected. One of the most special moments of the year was Tristan’s baptism and his entrance into the Catholic Church, surrounded by the love and support of their family and friends.

Year 3: 2023 - 2024Trina studied abroad in Greece, and later that year Tristan visited with his family. It quickly became a place they knew they wanted to return to together. Tristan ended his college basketball career on a high note, scoring the final basket of the last home game and remaining a fan favorite. On top of celebrating graduating from undergrad, both Trina and Tristan decided to attend graduate school for their accelerated master’s programs. That year, they were also grateful to walk alongside two of their closest friends, Joe Bondi and Isabella Flory, who got engaged and married. Trina and Tristan were both in the wedding, and their friends helped start meaningful conversations about marriage&nbsp;

Year 4: 2024 - 2025Trina and Tristan began their journey of long distance, with Tristan attending NYU for his master’s while continuing his basketball career, and Trina staying at UVA to complete her master’s and final season of track and field. They made several trips between Charlottesville and New York City, supporting each other every step of the way. Trina was there to witness Tristan’s historic season of most wins in school history at NYU, and Tristan got to cheer Trina on as she cleared a new personal best in outdoor pole vault. It was a challenging year, balancing school and being apart, but they stayed connected through creative virtual date nights and constant encouragement. The distance ultimately strengthened their relationship and opened the door for meaningful conversations about their future together.

April 20th, 2025On Easter Sunday, Tristan surprised Trina with a scavenger hunt, sending her and her best friend Bella to visit all the places that held special meaning in their relationship. Each stop brought back memories, leading up to the final destination...the steps of the Rotunda, where it all began. There, surrounded by loved ones, Tristan proposed. Trina (through many happy tears) said yes. Their families and close friends were waiting to celebrate, and the day ended with a beautiful engagement party at Trina’s house. It was the perfect beginning to this next chapter of their journey together.

Year 5: 2025 Since getting engaged, Tristan and Trina have moved to New York City and started their first jobs. Being in the same city again has been such a gift, and they've loved exploring this new chapter side by side, from dinner dates and Broadway shows to ferry rides, river walks, and welcoming friends and family who come to visit. They've found a strong sense of community through their church and have continued to grow not only as a couple, but also in their faith. As they prepare for marriage, they’ve been planning the wedding together, praying together, and going through the Bible in a Year. Even in the midst of a busy season, they make time each week for date nights, keeping joy, connection, and intention at the heart of it all.

What is the dress code for the mass + reception?

Our dress code is pastel-inspired formal attire. See examples <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/trinabarcarola/wedding-guest-attire/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">HERE</a>. We’re celebrating in the heart of summer, and we invite our ladies to wear formal, church-appropriate dresses or gowns in bright, pastel, or cheerful colors that reflect the joyful spirit of the day. For the gentlemen, classic formal suits are requested, with room for personality through colorful ties, bowties, or pocket squares. Think elegant, festive, and seasonally inspired.

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors? 

The wedding Mass will take place indoors, and the reception will be held indoors as well. Our cocktail hour will be held in an outdoor patio space, weather permitting.

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding? 

We kindly ask guests to refrain from taking photos during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present with us. You're welcome to take photos + videos during the reception!

Are plus ones and children allowed? 

We love your families and friends, but due to space limitations, we are only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. Thank you for understanding!

What is the easiest way to travel to Charlottesville? 

Charlottesville is accessible by car, train, or plane. The nearest airport is Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO), which is about 20 minutes from downtown. If you're traveling from a nearby city Amtrak (train) is a convenient option.

What is the transportation plan for guests between the ceremony and the reception venues?

Guests will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the wedding Mass and reception. Both venues offer parking, and we will share detailed addresses and directions on our website closer to the date. For those not wanting drive, Uber and Lyft are available in Charlottesville.

How long will the mass ceremony be? 

The wedding Mass will last approximately one hour. It will be a traditional Catholic Mass with the sacrament of matrimony.
