As much as I’m sure we would love to say we met at some concert or coffee shop (Whitley says smoothie shop) … our path’s definitely would not of crossed if online dating wasn’t around. YES CATS OUT THE BAG! I’m sure many of you already know just by previously asking and myself directing you to ask whit how we met… we all know how that conversation went. But the steps and chapters are the fun parts of our story!
It was right smack down at the beginning of a pandemic. Long story short a friend of mine encouraged me to try online dating again and one swipe after another a profile popped up which appeared to have a decently tall size man, blonde hair, literally the cutest smile. One of those smiles that you see and it makes you wanna smile.. yaaa that one. I looked at his profile and didn’t see a single dog in any of his pictures(strike one, lol) but then I noticed his name and thought “ never heard that name before… oh cute Whitley and trinity rhyme!”So I shoot my shot and swiped right. LOW AND BEHOLD all of a sudden the screen alerts me that this man has not only swiped right on me but SUPER SWIPED my profile. (For all the non-online dating people… it means he wanted me to know he rrreeeaaaalllllyyy likes me!) Then after a couple of facetime calls he asked me to have dinner!
Our first date was at his house. He was so cute and made me tacos… I didn’t eat a single one because I was so nervous! When I first saw him I thought WOW he’s tall, and blonde, and just keeps making jokes to get me to laugh. Because of covid we ended up making our next dates adventuring out to different state parks! I could go without the bugs but Whitley made it so much fun.
Then as months passed I was surprised with a secret engagement! Side text Whitley would tell me all the time he wouldn’t get married for like another 10 years so I 100% had that in my brain. But he surprised me with the best day ever and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!❤️
Call it the Covid blues or the disappointment of my mothers 60th birthday cruise getting cancel days before we were due to fly out, but I wasn’t going to just sit around and let this young physique wither away. And I had a suspicion of where some fun could be found!
It’s a tale as old as time: to swipe Right or Swipe Left, that is the Question? (I can’t believe I’m andmitting this) After a day or so of tough luck, and profile popped up finally that had the potential of greatness. I knew it wasn’t too good to be true, cause this didn’t have the “catfish” signs that they were a fake! I knew I had to separate myself from the other 1’s in SA that are 6’4”+, non-Hispanic descent, dirty blondish, home-owner, and reliable transportation… the bar was set!!
What better way to do that, than the distinguished, “Super Like” award I gifted her, she knew I meant business and wanted a chance to get to know her!
But after a week or 3 of calls and FaceTiming, she didn’t seem in any rush to actually meet, she must have been sick for a long time!! Finally, I invited her over for my traditional chicken taco night. As the anticipation built up for her timely arrival, I wanted to impress her with a not messy house and that was about all I could think of. Her mom van parked out front and who came around was this bubbly, smiley, vibrant face that could only be reciprocated back. I think we both were so relieved we were the said height and size we answered on the Online profiles.
She had a bite or so of the chicken taco and I knew she was hooked! Next time she came over she brought this massive spread of fruit to make a charcuterie board and had to take a lot of pictures of this “masterpiece”… I asked myself, “Self, what have you gotten yourself into!” “You’re in Love”
