In June of 2012 Troy and Katie were introduced on Facebook through a mutual friend Stephanie Perez. She had made a post about finding love and Troy had commented. Katie proceeded to ask who Troy was in the comments. From there they talked every day till Friday when Troy called to hang out with Katie before their set date for Sunday. They began to hang out more and more over the months while Troy was prepping for his second NPC bodybuilding show.

On November 2nd of 2012 Katie visited Troy at work and he asked her to be his girlfriend. His show was not even a week later. Troy did great at his show and they spent the next year building their relationship. A year later they moved into Troy's house while Katie was preparing for a competition she decided to do to reach a goal. After Katie's show Troy went into his next plan for a show. He then competed in three other shows through the years. In 2016 Troy competed at Colorado State and Nationals in Chicago.

Before preparing for his show in 2016 they went on a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Troy planned the entire trip and had a candle light dinner on the beach. After a long day traveling Katie was not being the nicest person. Once at dinner Katie was talking about how she couldn't wait for this trip and Troy got on one knee, he proposed and said "I could not wait to do this ". They spent the next week enjoying their time and meeting other newlyweds.

Once they returned home they worked on preparing Troy for his show and started to think about wedding plans. Traveling together to Chicago and surviving Katie's consulting job travel at the time was fun. They found a good balance when Katie was let go of her job from consulting. At that time Troy supported and made sure Katie was taken care of even more than he already did. This hard time brought them even closer and showed what a great team they are as they look forward to building a family and making more memories!
