Ty and I met in our Engineering Statics lecture as sophomores at the University of Washington. We remained friends and study partners throughout Spring quarter, while classes took place remotely. We enjoyed talking frequently, hanging around on Zoom calls to chat long after the rest of our study group left. Fast forward to late summer, and when I moved back to Seattle, Ty drove across the state to take me on our first date. We hiked Denny Creek, slid on the rock water slides, visited Snoqualmie Falls, Golden Gardens, Volunteer Park, and finally watched the sun set over Seattle from Kerry Park. We both loved that we could laugh and have a wonderful time together.
We enjoyed the remainder of our time at the UW, whether hanging out on the quad, exploring Seattle, doing crafts, or cooking dinner together. Ty graduated with his masters in 2023 and is now working as a research & development engineer in the Skagit Valley. I just finished my masters in June 2024, and am now beginning my career as a structural engineer in Bellingham. This is just the beginning, and we cant wait to see where our life together will take us!
