Tyler and Kristen first met at the end of August in 2013 when Tyler was the Designated Driver for a few nights out in Downtown Sudbury. At the time, Kristen was 19 and studying English Literature at Laurentian University and Tyler was 19 and studying Welding and Fabrication at Cambrian College. The third time they ever met was while Kristen was having a migraine and Tyler showed up at her aunt's house with Gatorade and held her hair while she was throwing up. Kristen knew right away that this guy was special.
When asked where this relationship was going, Tyler replied honestly that he was really busy with school and didn't think he had the time to commit to a serious relationship. But Kristen knew it was more than a summer fling when a week later he invited her to Sunday night dinner with the family.
On the night of September 22nd 2013, Tyler drove Kristen to the top of a hill in Sudbury that over looked the city lights below. He made her get out of the car and under the light of the full moon and stars held her hands and asked her to be his girlfriend.
After many trials and tribulations that relationships often have when you're in your early 20s, they decided to move in together. They began their basement-apartment-chapter in the fall of 2018 in a 900 sqft, 1 (windowless) bedroom apartment in Bradford with their bunny Anastasia. They soon added their bunny Lilly (RIP) to their growing family. After a little over 1 year of living together their relationship faced a new challenge: quarantining in 900 soft. But they made it! And come out the other side stronger than ever. During this time Kristen earned her real estate licence and Tyler was welding in Vaughn.
On September 26th 2020 Tyler told Kristen he had booked a cottage at Killarney for their 7th anniversary. After skillfully suggesting they stop at camp to say hello to his parents before they head to Killarney, Kristen saw that all three of her parents’ dogs were running around the lawn at camp and both her parents were there. Tyler was always very good at romantic and sentimental gifts so Kristen assumed her gift was her parents being at camp as he knew how much she has wanted them to visit. After explaining that they were not In fact going to Killarney, they began to walk towards the boat to get their things back at the launch. As they were walking along the water Tyler slowed down and grabbed both her hands. He started saying beautiful romantic things and Kristen told him to spit it out, unable to contain her excitement. She said yes!
As the world was, at the time, upside down and no one knew what the future held, no date was set. A few months later they decided it was time to start preparing for their future and took steps to begin putting down their roots. At the end of March 2021, they moved back up north with Tyler's parents to begin saving for a home.
They are currently waiting out the housing crisis with their two bunnies Anastasia and Ivy with the best upstairs neighbours on the market. They hope to buy a home and grow their family in the near future.
