Tyler & Kristin

Tyler and I became friends in Merrick Avenue Middle School. He was in 7th grade and I was in 8th. He was silly and shy and we would walk to class together and joke around. Once high school started and he entered Calhoun, he became friends with some of the kids in my grade and started showing up to our parties. Ultimately he became a VIP (if you know you know), and was a permanent member of the guy friend group. Tyler was always mean to me…the classic if you “like” a girl when you’re 14, you tease her. My junior year of high school we started dating, and it was a whopping 2 week relationship featuring a 15 and 16 year old. Tyler quickly broke up with me..because he said he “didn’t like me anymore” and life had moved on.

A few years later I could sense that Tyler still liked me, but it wasn’t our time. He would get jealous and we would bicker about silly things, but nothing ever panned out romantically. He stopped coming around as much when I came home and would see friend during college breaks and I never understood why. I later had found out that he did still have feelings for me and did not want to be around me until he felt in his own way, that he could get me back.

It happened in the summer of 2017 on the way to a Dierks Bentley concert at Jones Beach Theatre. Sheila (my maid of honor for those that do not know) had asked me if I would ever consider reconnecting with Tyler. We started tailgating in the parking lot and a bird pooped directly on Tyler’s black shirt. He said it was good luck and we talked all night long. The rest is history. Since then, his style has improved ALOT. Although we still cannot get him to give up the Pinnacle Realty T-shirts and Ferragamo slides…but ultimately we have grown into completely different people as adults, together.

For those of you that have been privy to the ins and outs of our relationship, you understand and have seen that we love to tease and rip on each other.

Something that not everyone has seen, is how we bounce off of one another and all of the belly laughs and pure joy when we are together. My goal in life was to find someone who I can truly be myself around. Although rare, Tyler and I have found that with each other.

When we started dating over 7 years ago I was 22 and Tyler was 21, we were very young. I am so proud of the people we have become and can’t wait to see how much we continue to grow together in the future. He told me back in 2017 when we first rekindled that he knew he would get me back one day, because he always gets what he wants. I was a little taken back by his confidence, and did not believe him at the time. I have to hand it to him because it did happen, and it was all worth it!

We cannot wait to celebrate our love with all of you on our special day!
