It all started on an ordinary morning at the bank—nothing special, no sparks flying, just another routine day. Tyra was running late, balancing a coffee cup in one hand and trying not to spill anything on herself. Zeth knew the new girl at the bank was starting today at his branch. He sat back quietly observing his new colleague. It wasn’t love at first sight, not even close. They barely exchanged more than a few words about office tasks and the weather.But life has a funny way of throwing two people together when they least expect it.Over the next few months, Tyra and Zeth found themselves sharing the occasional the random office chit-chat, and texts about up coming concerts. It wasn’t anything remarkable, but it was enough. Then one Friday, after a particularly stressful week, they both ended up going to the Goodlot, Tyra's favorite spot. Tyra was talking about her dog, a spunky rescue named Roxy, while Zeth was adding in about his crazy dog, Griffin.Tyra said their dogs should meet and so they made a date to the park. Their dogs immediately hit it off, running around in circles like they’d known each other forever. Tyra laughed as Griffin tried to outpace Roxy, and Zeth grinned, clearly enjoying the moment. That was when the ice finally broke between them. From there, their bond grew. Walking the dogs together became a routine. And slowly, they realized that the connection they shared was more than just about their pets. Zeth was thoughtful and kind, always asking how Tyra was doing after a tough day. Tyra was witty, strong, and had a way of making even the most mundane conversations feel meaningful.The spark was undeniable.But life, as it often does, threw them a curveball. The tree was not lighting and Tyra being the type A person she is, started making a plan to get a new tree. "Are we going to keep this one and just wrap lights, or are we going to get a new one" she said to Zeth. "Get a new one" he said and walked away. Tyra was left confused because there was still no plan for the tree. Were they getting a new one today or later? Roxy and Griffin were curled up on the rug, content and cozy. Zeth came back in and Tyra started the conversation again, clearly not done. "We need to decide if we are getting a new one today or not" she said. Zeth turned to Tyra, his heart racing. " I think we need to decide something else first" he said. Tyra turned to look at him confused.He got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?”Tyra’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at Zeth, knowing, without a doubt, that this was the man she was meant to be with. It wasn’t a fairytale romance—it was real, raw, and built on a foundation of love, respect, and trust.“Yes,” she whispered, her voice breaking as she laughed. “Yes, a thousand times yes!”As they embraced, with Roxy and Griffin now excitedly joining in, Tyra and Zeth knew that they had weathered the hardest storms and come out stronger for it. Their love had grown in unexpected ways, but it was exactly what they needed. The wedding would come later, but for that moment, all that mattered was the promise they’d made to each other under the Christmas tree—a promise that was as enduring as the love they shared.They both knew, looking at each other, that this was just the beginning.Life, after all, had a way of surprising them—and together, they were ready for whatever came next.
