All thanks to our sisters—and a cozy fire.

My sister, Lawashia, and Abe’s sister, Anna, worked together for years before Anna and I became friends. As my sister always said, Anna and I are two peas in a pod—equally loud, loving, and full of energy!

It wasn’t long after we became friends that I found myself at Anna’s housewarming party. Around the bonfire, I spotted this handsome guy across the flames. Naturally, I asked my sister who he was, and while I almost worked up the courage to say hi that night, I went home instead…and immediately did some detective work on Facebook (because, honestly, who wouldn’t?).

Eventually, I reached out to say hello. After some time chatting, Abe and I went on our first date to see the zoo lights—an adorable winter evening that was just the beginning of our story.

Now, we have a beautiful, blended family, a home full of laughter and love
