How We Met

In Late 2012 my sojourn in South-South Nigeria came to a beautiful end courtesy of an official movement to Lagos.

I decided to go to church one Sunday morning with the mindset of worshipping God, unbeknownst to me that the lord was in his unprecedented wisdom directing my steps and shinning His lamp on my paths to meet my heart robe. Upon my arrival in the church, I met this damsel singing in Choir. I was captivated not only by her beauty but by her sonorous voice and angelic catwalk.

As the service was ongoing, I lost focus, (focus left me) the purpose for which I came to church was somewhat defeated. My whole thoughts began to wiggle on steps I'll employ to approach her in a bid to make my sudden intentions known to her. After the close of service that day, I waited to observe her and was wowed by what I saw. From that day onward, I needed no prophet to reveal that was my destined church.

Moving forward, I became friends with her two male friends. Maybe through them, I'll get her attention(she looked stringent and wouldn’t entertain a total stranger)

Fortunately, I got very close to her male friends from whom I got endearing tips about her. I summoned the courage to approach her, chipped into any conversations she was involved in, slowly we proceeded to say hello to each other.

Getting this close to her isn't as easy as it seems, it is a testimony, hallelujah!

The train was moving smoothly until she gained admission to study Accounting at the University of Uyo. With all honesty, I was downhearted but happy for her. Downhearted because I thought that'll be the end of my dream and desire of having her as a wife. Determining not to give up. Being the man that I am, I said to myself even if you gain admission into a Northern University, I'll come for you there.

Despite the distance between Lagos and Uyo, I shuttle my way to see her at least regularly. Need I tell you that despite all these my ramblings, she was yet to accept my 'application'' to be her boyfriend, as I was still a mere applicant.

According to her, she needed to trust me and believe that I am not coming to 'joke' with her love or have a taste of her. I became a missionary for her case, traveling from Lagos to Uyo just to preach love, (omo I suffered). There were times it became demanding and somewhat annoying, but despite all odds, I'll still see myself in Uyo.

It was not until 2016 she realized I meant business. Like I'll die on her matter. And the Lord just like he spoke to Abraham intervened on my behalf and she told me the first YES after more than 3 years of friendship.

Without mincing words, since she told me that first YES (as a girlfriend), not only has she been a blessing to my life, she is everything I ever prayed and dreamt for from a wife. She's a paragon of the virtuous woman the bible wrote about.

My beautiful wife, saying yes again to be the woman I'll spend my life with crowns my Joy. Indeed, I AM FULFILLED.

Where did you first meet ?

Church

Who made the first move? How?

Etido; I was doing the Lord's work in my garden of Eden and he came around...as they say the rest is history.

Did you ever doubt this relationship/marriage at any point?

Yes, there were seasons of uncertainty due to prevailing situations at those moments. However, we had agreed to make the Bible the final authority over our relationship/marriage and not our emotions or facts or reality, so we always come to the point of discussing our differences and addressing them in the light of "God says".

Who's going to take out the trash?

Lol, we hope to be a team

Who eats the most?

Omoh.. Etido can eat oh. Lol. Obviously Etido.

What was your most memorable date?

Every date is memorable ( if you've ever being in a long-distance relationship, you'll understand this better...lol). It has to be the proposal.

How did you manage your attractions without defiling each other?

Lol...this question is meant to be private, but to encourage other single brethren out there, the answer is DECISION. God helped our decision to stay chaste. Were there temptations? Yes, so many, but we had decided we were going to overcome them before they came. Most importantly, God gave us grace. Grace for Grace...lol

What's your favorite activity together?

Playing Games, Planning, Praying, travelling, taking pictures ( I like pictures), chatting.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Hahaha... I love Maldives but for Covid-19 sha, and high dollar rate...travel is expensive at this time, so we'll just work out having a good time together.
