What is the dress code/what does "semi-formal" mean?
The dress code is semi-formal. People interpret this many different ways, but here is what we are thinking: for women, knee or tea-length dresses, skirts, or dressy pantsuits; for men, suits or button-up shirts with an optional tie. Our ceremony is indoors in a beautiful Catholic church, so we ask that you dress appropriately. Keep in mind as well that July in Minnesota is usually pretty hot, and the reception will be outside.
As a side note, the bridesmaids will be in burgundy dresses, so if you are wearing a dress or pantsuit, we ask that you try to avoid this color so the bridesmaids stand out.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes! We believe children bring a certain joy and warmth to any event, and with our reception venue being quite spacious, there will be plenty of room for play!
I'm not a Catholic, can I still attend the wedding Mass?
Of course! We wish for everybody to witness the moment of our union. If you have never been to a Catholic wedding during a Mass before and are worried about knowing what to do, there are many resources available online explaining the flow of events. There will also be information in the ceremony programs.
Will I be in any professional pictures?
Immediate family of the bride and groom (siblings, parents, and grandparents) are asked to arrive ready at the church at 1pm on July 19 for professional pictures. Anybody else is welcome to take the bride and groom aside quickly for their other special pictures when appropriate during the reception. We ask that you please refrain from taking pictures during Mass to protect the holiness and sanctity of the sacrament of matrimony. We have hired a great photographer and are happy to share any pictures with you at a later date.
