There are a handful of cities and places that eventually brought Valeria and Guy Robert together, but it all begins in Miami! It has such a special place in our hearts! Back in 2010 we first met on South Beach at Cameo(who says you can’t find love in the club?). We were both there with our siblings, and the second Valeria laid eyes on Guy Robert she headed in his direction, and pushed the ladies he was talking to out of the way so she could introduce herself😉! How could a man refuse that? Kidding of course! After talking for a bit, we exchanged numbers, kept in touch, and wouldn’t see each other again for several months until Guy Robert went on a work trip to Phoenix, Arizona where Valeria was living at the time.

We had dinner, Guy Robert went back to St. Louis, Missouri(where he was living then), but we continued to talk on the phone, Skype for hours at a time, and Guy Robert would go back to Phoenix a couple months later to see Valeria again! But for whatever reason, after that trip we lost touch and continued to live our lives. We were still friends on social media but that was the extent of knowing how each other was doing.

Fast forward to five years later. It’s 2015. March 9th to be precise, and Guy Robert is now back home living in Miramar, Florida scrolling through Facebook, when he happens to see a post by Valeria sipping a piña colada on South Beach! A lot of things were running through Guy Robert’s mind and he debated whether he should even reach out and send Valeria a message since it had been years since they last spoke. Well he did, and Valeria quickly responded! After a brief chat, they agreed to meet in downtown Miami for drinks. It was an amazing night reconnecting and we both realized that there was something there between us. Valeria even came back to Miami the following week so they could see each other again!

In late March, Guy Robert had been offered and accepted a new job in Richmond, Virginia. He and Valeria kept in touch here and there, because she was living her best life traveling the world. In August of that year, Guy Robert had to attend a convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota where as fate would have it, Valeria was based at the time with her new job.
She just happened to be off the days he was there and they linked up and they had another great time together! It’s during that trip that Valeria had invited Guy Robert to a trip to Phoenix to attend her friend’s birthday party as her date. He thought she was just talking mess and didn’t believe her until she called him a few weeks later the day before the party and ask if he was coming to AZ.

“What? How am I going to do that?,” is what went through his head when she posed the question. But little did he know the power Valeria possessed( aka flight benefits) and was able to arrange a ticket. So, Guy Robert was good to go and hit the desert for the weekend.
Again, they had a phenomenal time. So much so that when Guy Robert returned to Richmond on a red-eye to go to work, Valeria had called him that afternoon and asked to come visit, and was on a plane the same day! Can we say she was feeling a brother? Yes we can!

Valeria spent almost a week a Richmond. One trip turned into another, and another, to the point where she was there almost every week. That lead to us eventually becoming a couple before the end of the year. On New Year’s Day 2016 in Cancun, Mexico(our first vacation together) we proclaimed our love for one another(which is why Cancun is also special for us), and by August of 2016 Valeria moved in with Guy Robert. It was also then that we both knew we wanted to take our relationship another step forward. Well, after about a year and half of dating that step would take place.

While on another vacation in Antigua, we were taking pictures on our second day there in the morning(July 23, 2017). Guy Robert was nervous as hell, and during the time was really getting on Valeria’s nerve. We had been taking pics for a while and when she was done I had asked a complete stranger to take one more even though she didn’t want to. I told the guy to act like he’s taking a photo when in reality he was recording a video. While we posed I said, “hold on!” and took the box out of my pocket, faced her, and got down on one knee. She was so surprised! But she did say, “YES!” Now here we are engaged, getting ready to say, “I do!” in the place where we first said, “I love you!”

That’s our story, but it’s still in the making with a lot more chapters to write.
