Our Story

Val & Josh's Story

Once upon a time, Val decided she was done with the modern age dating scene after starting a Hinge (dating app) profile. Though she made a stance against finding her soulmate, her Dad and Nana decided to overrule her stubborn thoughts. On a calm Sunday morning in December 2020, Val's Dad and Nana decided to pay $20 to Hinge to view all of the profiles that swiped right on Val. This moment alone could have been a reality TV show if you can picture Rico and Kay going through Hinge profiles of eligible bachelors in the Atlanta area. It was in their search that they decided to swipe right on Josh as well (with Val's permission). Josh and Val communicated back and forth on Hinge for a couple weeks before deciding to meet in person at Roswell Mill at Vickery Creek for a hike. Josh decided to let Val lead the way which allowed him to see first hand that she is directionally challenged...for six hours. However, six hours in the woods gave them plenty of time to dive deep into getting to know each other, so the fun adventures continued!

The first time the parents meet! A beautiful family trip to Key Largo allowed us to all come together for the first time. Everyone grabbed some margaritas and spent the weekend having a blast by the pool.

Josh threw a surprise birthday dinner for Val including her sweet friends that made a dinner happen on a Monday night. Holiday birthdays are tough to plan around so all the credit given to these incredible friends.

In the early dating days, Josh and Val watched all of the Marvel movies from the beginning to present time in order. One of their favorite things to do is see the newest Marvel film that comes out on the premier midnight showing at theaters. And they must always rock matching t-shirts for the movie they're excited to see!

J&V decided to fly stand-by to Lisbon, Portugal for a weekend! Josh texted the flight time to Val that Friday and she ran home to pack her bags before making her way to the airport. They only spent about 24 hours in Portugal, and a boat ride was included of course.

An extra special surprise occurred when Val's family in Sequals, Italy offered to host them for an evening. Josh got to meet Val's family in Italy and see where her Nonno grew up as a young boy.
