It all started with a rock show. I wasn’t supposed to be there, but fate had other plans. It was the day before Thanksgiving, and I was on my way to celebrate my friend’s birthday in Irvine. Just my luck, I forgot my ID. We went back to my apartment to pick it up, and we decided that it’d be best to just go to Downtown Fullerton and celebrate. I was secretly determined to break out of my shell and meet someone that night. Slide Bar was having a tribute band perform songs from The Strokes. When they were done, the night turned into an event called Emo night. I “somehow” ended up upstage with the band; and that’s when I first saw Travis. He was with his buddies looking all cool with his tattoos and his beard. Travis says that he noticed me right away and told one of his buddies, “Damm that chick is cute.” My friend and I somehow ended up talking to Travis’s friends. There was a girl in the group that was always next to Travis so I thought that was his girlfriend. I was waiting for the right opportunity to talk to him. The girl told Travis, “I’m going to go get a drink” so she left. There was my chance and I took it. I asked him if that was his girlfriend, he said no. I was so relieved when he said no. I thought to myself, that boy is mine. So I asked for his instagram, and he replied with, “ better yet, let me have your number.” I gave him my number and he called me right away because he wanted to make sure I didn’t give him a fake number. We continued the night rocking out, dancing and having a good time. The next morning he texted me, and we continued talking to each other from then on and that’s how our love story began. It’s interesting to think that if I hadn’t forgotten my ID, then perhaps I wouldn’t have ever met my future husband. However, I’m very optimistic in romance, and I believe that fate would’ve allowed us to find each other one way or another.
