Reccomendations from the Locals:
-Sausalito: take the ferry from S.F. ferry building to Sausalito walk around downtown Sausalito, get ice cream and have a drink at one of the waterfront restaurants. Ferry to Angel Island if there’s time and see the old fort.
-Beach and Margs: Rent Lyft bikes from anywhere in the city and ride bikes through Golden Gate Park, see the buffalo paddock. End at ocean beach and go to Java Beach Cafe, then walk Ocean Beach (it gets chilly!). Go to dinner at Sunset Cantina, great margs.
-Museum hopping: Asian art museum, SF MoMa, exploratorium are all downtown. Walk the Embarcadero afterwards.
-Mission neighborhood: Start at Tartine Bakery, go look at murals at Clarion or Balmy alley, walk to mission Dolores and sit at Dolores park to people watch (beware the magic mushroom sales people, or don’t), walk to el techo and get a marg on the rooftop.
-Get croissants at Arsicault. Voted best bakery in the United States. The chocolate hazelnut croissant is sensational while the morning bun is cinnamon cardamom goodness. Eat them the nearby lookout Inspiration point in Presidio.
-Get Irish coffees at Buena Vista, an S.F. staple and walk along waterfront through Fort Mason to the Marina and all the way to Crissy fields.
-Mandalay: Enjoy some delicious Burmese food in warm festive restaurant. Walk to high treason on Clement street after, a great wine bar in the city. Get genki crepes for desert
-Enjoy an afternoon reading, sipping wine or having a picnic at Baker Beach. Stunning views of Golden Gate Bridge and Marin.
-Have a cocktail or champagne at Top of The Mark- a classic historical rooftop bar with epic views
For Guests who want to venture outside of the city with their rental car:
-Take a 40 minute drive south to Half Moon Bay (HMB). Pass through Pacifica to watch the surfers. Stop by the north part of HMB to view the famous Maverick waves. Stroll through the quaint HMB downtown and talk the walking trail along the coast for beautiful coastal views. Enjoy a late afternoon cocktail on the coastal patio at the Ritz Carlton and mesmerized by the views and the Scottish bagpipe player.
-Further south is beautiful Big Sur. Too pretty to describe- you have to see it!
- Go west to North Lake Tahoe! Stop for crepes in college town Davis. Visit beautiful Truckee with its Wild West downtown feel. Stop at the all seasons Northstar resort and enjoy their a snack in the village. Continue to North Lake Tahoe with its cute little towns. Or, hit the casinos in South Tahoe.
- Go North to discover Point Reyes. This is a beautiful coastal area for hiking. Venture up to the Wild West town feel of Occidental. Circle back to the Bay Area via Sebastopol and Petaluma- stopping at a few wineries, of course! Keep in mind that wine tasting in the Sonoma area is a unique experience!
