Vanessa and Rafael met in the 6th grade at Rio Vista Elementary School. Living only in the neighborhood across the street, Rafael would occasionally prank Vanessa by piling rocks in front of her door and running away. Meanwhile, Vanessa would go over to his house and watch him play video games trying to deny his cuteness with his long Justin Bieber hair. But it wasn't until junior year of high school that the two started dating, experiencing all the awkward puberty growing pains and emotions. They both ended up going to Tucson for college at the University of Arizona where the real fun began. Getting to experience many firsts together; first jobs, first alcoholic drinks/parties, first apartment together and first time traveling to Europe together. After graduating college, the two moved back to Phoenix to be closer to family. They started their jobs in healthcare and went through the pandemic together leading them to living their lives in their current home with their adorable dog Ellie. Rafael surprised Vanessa by proposing to her in their favorite place to visit; Sedona, AZ. Excited to start this new chapter in their lives, they are looking forward to celebrating their special day together with friends and family.
